Held at the Citadel and Plantation. Was seen in captivity, or heard on
radio by many returnees. His is mentioned in the German Propaganda Film,
Pilots in Pajamas.

On April 17, 1974, Central Identification Laboratory-Thailand (CILT, now
DPAA) identified the remains of Lieutenant Commander Jack
Walters Jr., missing from the Vietnam War.
Lieutenant Commander Walters, who joined the U.S. Navy from
North Carolina, served with Reconnaissance Attack Squadron 13,
Carrier Air Wing 15, embarked aboard the USS Kitty Hawk
(CVA-63). On May 19, 1967, he piloted an RA-5C Vigilante (bureau
number 150826) on a combat reconnaissance mission over enemy
targets in North Vietnam. During the mission, the Vigilante was
shot down by anti-aircraft artillery. Lieutenant Commander
Walters survived the crash and was captured by the North
Vietnamese; however, he died shortly thereafter from wounds he
sustained in the crash. In 1974, the Vietnamese government
repatriated remains to American authorities which were later
identified as those of LCDR Walters.
