I'm the daughter of a returned P.O.W., Col. Dewey L. Smith. I have more
info for his bio, if you'd like.
DOB 11-11-29
Still living and healthy as of today!
3 sons in military:
Maj. Dewey L. Smith, Jr. USAF Reserves and Jonathan R. Smith who did his
time in the Marines as well as the "little" brother Joshua Russell Smith who
is a Marine currently in Afghanistan.

Dewey Lee Smith of Fairdale, believed to have
been held in captivity as a prisoner of war longer
than any other Kentuckian,
died Monday 2-9-15 while on vacation in Alabama.
Col. Smith, 85, a U.S. Air Force veteran who was
born in Louisville on Veterans Day in 1929, was
interned as a prisoner of war in
North Vietnam after he was shot down on June 2, 1967, and was
held until his
release on March 4, 1973....
