LCPL DANNY RAY BROTZ

Return to Service Member Profiles

On January 14, 1974, the Central Identification Laboratory-Thailand (CILT, now DPAA) identified the remains of Lance Corporal Danny Ray Brotz, missing from the Vietnam War.

Lance Corporal Brotz joined the U.S. Marine Corps from Michigan and was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. On April 30, 1967, he took part in an assault on Hill 881 in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. He was killed in action on Hill 881, and his remains could not be recovered at the time. The next month, U.S. search teams investigated Hill 881 and recovered several sets of unidentified remains. In 1974, some of the recovered remains were identified as those of LCpl Brotz.
