On June 27, 1983, the Central Identification Laboratory-Hawaii (CILHI, now DPAA) identified the remains of Colonel Larry William Biediger, missing from the Vietnam War.

Colonel Biediger entered the U.S. Air Force from Texas and was a member of the 354th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On January 29, 1967, he piloted an F-105F Thunderchief (tail number 62-4420, call sign "Tico 01") on an air defense suppression mission in support of a strike mission over Ha Tuyen Province, North Vietnam. While passing over the target area, Col Biediger jettisoned his external fuel tanks and one struck his F-105F, causing the aircraft to crash. Prior to the crash, Col Biediger ejected from the damaged aircraft but did not survive the incident, and enemy activity in the loss area prevented the recovery of his remains at the time. The Vietnamese government later repatriated remains that U.S. analysts eventually identified as those of Col Biediger.

Colonel Biediger is memorialized on Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
