- He’s wearing Armored Cavalry branch insignia on his
collar and a Combat Infantry Badge and an
Expert Infantry Badge – An individual cannot wear the CIB
and EIB at the same time.
- He is wearing two unauthorized shoulder cords on each
shoulder; on the right shoulder he is wearing a Cavalry
branch shoulder cord. On the left shoulder he is wearing an
unidentified shoulder cord.
- On his right sleeve I count 20 Overseas Service
Bars, which correspond with 10 YEARS of combat
service. US involvement in Vietnam (1965-1972) he would have
had to have served in Vietnam EVERYDAY since Day 1,
AND spent all three years in Korea to get those kind of
stripes. Though the photo is not clear, if he is wearing
Army Dress Blues he is wearing the wrong Overseas Service
Boars and Service Stripes.
- It is not clear whether or not he is wearing Shoulder
Sleeve Insignia-Former Wartime Service (SSI-FWTS) on his
right sleeve or not. If he truly served in combat, he
should be wearing one.
- His ribbons are totally out of order including an award
for valor, the Silver Star. I have checked
on the
Home of Heroes-Awards of the Silver Star section as well
as the
Military Times Hall of Valor to verify whether or not an
individual by the name 'David Baillie' was ever awarded the
Silver Star. The search results resulted in 0
matches.
- It has been independently verified that there has never
been a “David Baillie” whom ever attended the USASMA (United
States Army Sergeants Major Academy) at Ft. Bliss, Texas
according to the USASMA Commandant.
- On the shoulder epaulets he is wearing the Army green
leadership tabs under his Distinctive Unit Insignia – how
does a Sergeant Major (non-command-type) figure he’s
authorized to wear them, they are only authorized for those
who serve as combat leaders?
David Baillie hails from Bronxville Heights, New York and
currently resides in Leicester, North Carolina. On his
Facebook page he claims, 'Spent 15 to 17 yrs in far east
theaters. Korea, Japan. Nam and Indochina and others.' Claims
to have graduated from Lenox Memorial High School-Class of
1954.

In Honor

Expert.
- After a tour with The Infantry
School as a Assistant Instructor. The 24th was in need of
personnel. Off I went to Japan
and Korea and did several tours.
- When I wasn't in the 24th ID I was
in the 1st Cav. Did tours in Korea and Vietnam. RECON and
several are still classified.
All in and about 12 years in Far east.
- Then went back to the world and
finished with 10 + more yrs. ,
in 42nd Inf. Div. 142nd Tank Ban (which
is no longer part of NYNG).
Unfortunately he doesn't list any dates or duty stations which
makes it difficult to determine his exact service dates.
