It sure relieves a lot of stress after spending a week paying my neighbors tax dollars to drug dealers, murderers, child molesters ( a lot of them ), drunks, rapists, wife beaters and just all around miserable jerks who claim to have PTSD from combat experiences they didn't have. The VA has the manpower to pay out about $2 billion a year ( yes, that's a B ) in unwarranted disability compensation for post traumatic stress disorder, but doesn't have any incentive to check out obviously bogus stories. There are a lot of guys who tell stories just because they want to feed off of someone else's valor or sacrifice, but there are also a lot who want to make money from it. Burkett hit the nail exactly on the head in his book Stolen Valor. The guys who tell stories to get money or attention aren't nearly as disturbing as those in the VA who pretend to believe the stories because it supports their jobs. We have an industry that has been created that needs fake Seals, fake Green Berets, fake POW's, etc. because we don't get many psychological claims from the real guys. Grrrrrrr. As you can see, this is certainly a tender nerve with me. These guys don't "fool" the VA, VA just pretends to be fooled. The only thing that could ever stop all this is what your web site is providing. Publicity. Sorry for the venting. Keep up the good work. |
