As you may or may not have noticed, our Internet Tabloids have started again.

Its “Days of our Knives” Part II. (Thanks Rob).

This time our detractors are after not only Duane, but DB and Pat Rogers as well.

Is it me, or is this the most retarded thing you have ever heard of?

Its one thing to go after me, Im easy. Once you hear that im a felon, its easy to go ahead and believe what you hear. What ever. I realized long ago that being a felon meant I have to take some stones now and then. Right or wrong…its just the way it is…no issue.

This new thing is just retarded like you read about.

Lemme see if I have this correct;

Duane=cop, is a fake.
DB= cop, is a fake.
Pat Rogers=cop, is a fake.

The water heads forgot one special ingredient…these guys aren’t bad guys.

I wonder who has a better “Intel Network”, the Internet idiots, or the PD’s that hired these guys.

DUANE??!!
DB??!!
PAT??!!

Gimme a damn break.

Our “Coaches” have advised us to not comment on the actual issue at hand…

But come on….

Sure micks a bad guy…stole a car.

I truly appreciate all you guys, and of course our Wonderful Pal M1, who have jumped in to defend us.

BUT…
There are no contact sports in The Special Olympics for a reason!!!

Im just say’n

So, rest assured.

There is no Strider Knives conspiracy.
No one made anything up.

There are losers in the world, and there are the rest of us.

Losers are sad because they have entitlement issues….

Winners put up with losers because they are funny to watch dance.

Don’t worry, or feel the need to defend us.
We know you have our backs.

Just watch the losers dance, and laugh inside. (its distasteful to laugh out loud).

Hello Dan, if you see the original post that pointed to that thread it referenced USN. That's shorthand for the Usual Suspects Network. I joined that forum a couple of years ago. I was pretty active there at one time, but I haven't spent much time there in the last year or so.

Strider has a forum on USN. That's where Mick made the post and I believe he made it on Jan. 11. I went back to verify the date, but was unable to enter USN and view the forums, so I am left to assume that I am either temporarily or permanently out of the club.

If that's the way the USN admins play, I'm perfectly okay with that. We obviously share different viewpoints on the matter at hand, so parting ways is probably best.

Evolving edges: Strider knives get better and badder!

Somewhere out there in the war zones of the world there are a bunch of heroes sleeping a little bit better knowing they've got a Strider knife strapped to their sides. These are the warriors who depend on edged steel for tough-ass field chores and hard-ass combat. These are the people for whom Strider makes knives.

It may come as a surprise to some, but Strider Knives is now 12 years old. Surprising because about three-quarters of those years were spent under the radar. During those years founders Mick Strider and Duane Dwyer, special ops veterans and super-patriots alike, quietly went about achieving their goal of building hard-use knives for military personnel who rely on a knife to cut all types of cord, including those of the vocal variety.....

============

Two years ago Strider spun off a second company--International Training and Operations Group, LLC--to provide expert training and instruction to pro-American tactical groups. The company offers POST authorized courses as well as specialized instruction tailored to their client's needs.....

=============

MACVSOG Bowie, developed for members and former members of the same special forces outfit, does have a somewhat traditional clip point blade, but the guard and handle are radically different from anything history has offered up in the renowned Bowie name. These, too, are meant for assisting the unit in fund-raising and are Strider's way of giving back to the military and special ops community....

==============

Bang For Buck

Strider's collaborations with Buck knives has been win/win scenario for both companies. The relationship has given Strider Knives excellent exposure to a broader range of consumers and has allowed Buck to add a highly credible name to their tactical line. Consumers, however, are the real winners as the Buck versions offer several of Strider's most popular designs at affordable prices....

We collaborate on design

Never resting on our laurels, we are always seeking ways to come up with new products and improve existing ones. Where do we get our ideas? From a variety of sources, including customers, dealers, suppliers and knife experts. We collaborate with expert knife users, makers and artists like:
  • Peter Whittaker-world-renowned mountaineer (outdoor knives)
  • Mick Strider and Duane Dwyer-former military special operations (owners of Strider tactical knives)
  • Ed Gillet-top sea kayaker
  • Chad Schearer-owner of Central Montana Outfitters
  • Tom Mayo-knife designer (hi-tech, everyday-carry folders)
  • Koji Hara-Japan's finest custom knife maker (elegant, everyday locking liner folder)
  • Wilde Bill Cody-skilled craftsman and maker of limited edition knives
  • Brian Yellowhorse-gifted Navajo craftsman (limited edition)
  • Jon Q Wright and Bob Schmidt-game fish and wildlife artists (artist series knives)

These collaborations have enabled us to come up with new designs for functionality and style. Our Limited Edition knives have lasting beauty and traditional elegance in keeping with the century-long heritage of Buck Knives.

Tactical Experts: Mick Strider, Duane Dwyer of Strider Knives

When Buck Knives began to develop a line of tactical knives, we turned to the best in the industry-former military Special Operations personnel Mick Strider and Duane Dwyer of Strider Knives. Both Strider and Dwyer have personally experienced dangerous situations and know what it takes for a knife to deliver when lives depend on it. With finely tuned details, high-end steels and virtually indestructible handles, Buck Strider Tactical knives deliver the dependable performance that is crucial for tactical and survival missions.

Once more the errornet is full of conjecture, suppositions, myths and lies, jumping to non existent conclusions and with- like all legends, some truth thrown in.

FWIW, i have known Mick and Duane for a long time, and when they were making a few knives a month in the back of a storefront in Oceanside. From my very first meeting with them at Longboards, they were open about everything and held back nothing, leaving it to me to make decisions.

I have first hand knowledge about what Mick and Duane have done for the user community- the real users. They have donated a tremendous amount of time, money and product to ensure that real guys who have fallen have been honored appropriately and that guys going out to fight the war that most only have nocturnal emissions about when they do dress up role play in the privacy of their domicile.
As examples of the former, the Strider guys provided spectacularly done memorial knives/ shadow boxed for the Marines and Sailor of 1st Force killed in a helo crash in 1999. They wanted no mention of this then or now, but it is remembered by the families and the Company.
Or the extraordinarily well done plaque given to the men of my Brother's Company, Squad 1, whose members were all killed by islamofacists on a beautiful Tuesday morning five years ago. The men of the Squad have stated that this is the one gift that they received that stands out from all others.
Or the fact that Strider donates knives to the Sniper School Graduates as well as selected Rangers. Funny how neither the Marine Corps or Rangers- two groups of very tough hombres -have any problems, but do nothing neverbe's can make criticisms. I guess maybe you would have to be recruited by the CIA at age 5 to really understand the why's and wherefore's of that.
Yup, Mick made horrible mistakes. He has admitted that and moved on. Duane is a reserve cop and SRT member and cotinues to add community service to his list of accomplishments.
Grant has been asking Strider to allow him to carry their knive for years. Duane called me up a few months ago and asked me if i would recommend Grant. I did, and that is apparently happening.
So, are you going to stop buying from G&R? Stop posting here?

The disinformation cowpath means that everyone has opinions. Often these opinions mean that people shoot from the lip rather then make informed decisions.
The erronet has been described where a place where people who have nothing to say, say it anyway.
Sooooo true.
I have many acquaintences and fewer friends. Mick and Duane are friends.

"You might note that the DB is named for Moderator Nyeti. It is also one of my favorite knives.
FWIW, the DB-L is part of the USMC IAK, and one of several Strider products with NSN's.."

What they have against Mick is their own short comings and/or jealousy. You will notice that this stuff gets stopped immediately on many of the professional forums. Its because the people with the correct connections and enough pull who have vetted Mick and Duane have come up with the same thumbs up as I have gotten. The biggest issues are why do these people want Strider to fold up so badly, and what are the consequences for all the inquisitors and investigators if in fact Mick and Duane have the backgrounds that so many naysayers say they don't have? My best advice is to leave the antics to the kiddie forums, and keep M4 out of the witch hunt.

Glad to hear that your knives are performing as expected.

Mick Strider is one of my closest friends. To put that in perspective, I have been a full time cop for 19 years, and my list of friends with a felony conviction is exactly 1-Mick Strider. Mick is one of the few people who I allow around my kid. Mick did in fact serve with the Army Rangers. He has the DD214 to prove it, numerous Rangers who served with him, and it seems that the Ranger community has no issue with his claims-just a bunch of guys like Kevin McClung, Lance Harris, and Lynn Thompson who have never served in any L/E or Military capacity, yet feel the need to "out" those who did. Its called envy and regret. Did Mick do other "stuff" after seperation from the military due to an injury-yes. Some positive, some negative. There is often more to many stories, and this is one of them. In the many years I have known Mick, I have never heard him make a single public claim of anything other than his Army service and Ranger background.

Many folks confuse Mick with Duane Dwyer, the co-owner of Strider knives. He is a confirmed former
USMC Scout/Sniper (he has also been accused of being a fake and felon by the same crowd, I guess they always allow fakes to give speeches at S/S graduations). Duane is also a reserve Police Officer and serves on a SRT unit (we always give ex-felons badges). He also has experience outside of normal military service. Duane does far more shows and appearances than Mick. He is actually the one most have seen or spoken to at events, and he is very proud of his USMC background and loves to talk. The guy at the table drinking beer and claiming to be a marine Sniper is in fact Duane and not Mick for all the internet know it alls.

I am going to be running Strider's L/E division, which should also make me a fraud, felon, and wannabe as well.....

                                                                                        Gosh - remember this?? Sounds similar to the above Corporation......

Trainer for Navy under scrutiny

A security firm run by a man who allegedly lied about his combat duty trained isle sailors

Pearl Harbor sailors received anti-terrorism firearms training from a company run by a self-proclaimed hero who allegedly lied about his combat experience and decorations to secure more than $66 million in military contracts, according to a Navy spokesman and a national news report.

Surgical Shooting Inc., formerly of Pomeroy, Wash., provided about $1 million worth of firearms training to Pearl Harbor sailors between 2002 and 2003, said Hawaii Navy spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Jeff Davis.

The Hawaii sailors were among scores of enlisted Navy personnel nationwide enrolled in the company's anti-terrorism courses, which were aimed at getting sailors and Marines ready for terror threats in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

An ABC News investigation aired Wednesday found that the company's owner, former Marine Sgt. Gary Lakis, had no record of combat during his 10 years of active and Reserve duty. Lakis told the government that he had combat experience in Panama and Somalia which had won him Silver Stars, Purple Hearts, Bronze Stars and Air Medals.

In all the Navy awarded Lakis several contracts worth more than $66 million to provide training for sailors and Marines in Hawaii, San Diego, Seattle and Japan.

Most of the agreements, which were set to run until 2007, were suspended in 2003 after word of Lakis' fabricated military record reached federal authorities, local and national military officials said. The FBI and Defense Department have opened criminal investigations into Lakis, but he has not been charged, ABC News said.

Lakis could not be reached by ABC News or for this report. The telephone number at his former business has been disconnected, and Hawaii residents who knew or worked with him say he may have left the country. His forwarding address is in Australia, ABC News said.

"You would think that the government would be able to do a background check," said Art Ong, a firearms training contractor for the Navy who now employs three former Surgical Shooting instructors.

Ong's company, Hawaii-based Magnum Firearms, was awarded a four-year, $7.3 million contract in October 2003 to take over anti-terrorism firearms training at Pearl Harbor.

Davis said that despite Lakis' alleged conduct, the Navy is confident that Hawaii sailors were afforded adequate training by Surgical Shooting's Hawaii-based workers.

Lakis did not teach any of the Pearl Harbor courses, Davis said.

"Training was fine. We never had any problem with the quality," Davis said. "The problems all appeared to be management sort of problems."

Al Scott, now with Magnum Firearms, said he knew Lakis well and never suspected that "this guy was a fake."

Scott was hired by Lakis in April 2002 to assemble a team of Hawaii instructors who could teach anti-terrorism courses to Pearl Harbor sailors.

When Scott was in San Diego to get more information on the contracts and training, he even stayed at Lakis' home. "I went downstairs in his office and noticed from the floor to the ceiling, he had all sorts of certificates from being with the special forces," Scott said. "I didn't think anything of it. ... I was totally in the dark."

By the time he left Surgical Shooting for an Iraq deployment with his Reserve unit in October 2002, Scott was already hearing rumors that Lakis' military record was being questioned. Just months later, the company went under.

Ewa Beach resident Ryan Legaspi taught with Surgical Shooting at Pearl Harbor during several months in 2002 before he was also deployed to Iraq. When Legaspi returned to the islands a year later, he said he was shocked to hear about his former employer's downfall.

"He pulled a fast one on a lot of people," Legaspi said. "I know a lot of people who are pretty angry about this guy. ... I was saddened for the men who were working under him, who were legit individuals."

Lakis came to the islands only once while his contracts were active, Legaspi said.

"He basically spoke to all of us (the staff), as a group," Legaspi said. "That was it. He never did any training. He was never an instructor. We had no idea what he was capable of."

Scott said that several former Surgical Shooting employees who taught at Pearl Harbor have been interviewed by federal investigators about their former employer. None could be reached for comment.
