STEVEN WAYNE NYE

Wichita, KS

3 Nov 2003 - NOT an attendee, dropout or graduate of Ranger Training Brigade.

--------------

09 Jan 2007 - After a careful check of the roster, I see no Nye as a member of USARA!  I also checked past rosters and can find nothing of this guy.

Hope that this helps!

NOTES and COMMENTS
  1. Former service member Steven Wayne Nye of Wichita, KS was employed by the City of Wichita as a heavy equipment operator but was fired after receiving a DUI and losing his license.

Current employment unknown.   07/2007 - Works for National Plastics Color as maintenance man in Valley Center KS.
  2. Nye served on active duty in the early 80's. Service records reflect that he served in Panama as an Infantryman 11B but was released for disciplinary reasons prior to completion of his full term.
  3. At some point in the 1990's Nye enlisted into the Army Reserve.  He came to the unit he wearing the Ranger tab, Parachutist badge and an Expert Infantryman's Badge. He claimed he had served in the 2nd Ranger Battalion during his previous active duty time. He would often tell wild stories of "missions" in Central America and his time in Ranger Battalion.
  4.  Nye knew the right "catch" words and terminology associated with airborne units... in essence, he walked the walk, and talked the talk.  Nye seemed to know all about Ft Lewis and Ranger operations.
  5. Nye was a pretty heavy drinker... when he was he was out of control. During his drunk fests, he would often belittle others that were not "Rangers".  It always seemed out of character for a Ranger and leader to act as Nye would.
  6. Nye's service records appeared in good order...almost. It seemed as though there was very little documentation previous to his enlistment in the Army Reserve. Records in Nye's file reflected a DD214 upon release from a reserve mobilization to Bosnia which clearly showed the Ranger tab and Parachutists wings.
  7. No training certificates could be located for Nye's attendance at Airborne or Ranger school... Nye claimed they were destroyed during a flood of his residence but he did have his member card for the Ranger association for which he claimed membership would not be granted if he was not legit.
  8. He claimed he was something he was not...and by all accounts still continues to do so. He was recently seen at the local shopping mall wearing a Ranger hat and sporting Ranger bumper stickers on his vehicle... assuming his license has been reinstated??? Since he was kicked out of the military...   hate to think he is still perpetrating his "Ranger" status to others.
  9. He is know to frequent veteran establishments in the Wichita, KS area, often tells stories of his time in Ranger Battalion and has now added his embellished Iraq stories
