I greatly appreciate your interest in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams, and your search for the TRUTH. Before answering your questions I must make clear that I am a private individual, not affiliated with the US Dept. of Defense or any other government organization. Additionally, although I worked for/with the AuthentiSEAL verification organization for several years as an Investigator (and later as a Special Investigator dealing with the media), the members of that organization elected to formally disband in 2005.

If the name you provided is spelled correctly, I do NOT find a listing in the SEAL database for anyone named ROBERT EDWARD DOLAN. Be aware that I have also examined possible alternate spellings, and names with similar pronunciations. While there are four (4) men listed in the SEAL database with the last name DOLAN, two (2) of them are Korean War veterans with Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs), and two (2) of them joined the SEAL Teams AFTER 1989. None of the men has the first/middle names “Robert Edward” or anything even similar.

Unless he has undertaken the unlikely action of a legal name change (an action for which there would be court documentation) since his claimed service with the SEAL Teams, and based upon the information you have provided, I can state conclusively that ROBERT EDWARD DOLAN has NEVER completed SEAL training, and he is not now, nor was he ever a US Navy SEAL or UDT “Frogman”. Please be aware that the SEAL database includes the names of all men who served with the Underwater Demolition Teams (“Frogmen”). Since 1983 when the UDTs were all re-commissioned as SEAL Teams it has been the convention within the Naval Special Warfare community to use the modern term “SEAL” when referring to all men who ever served in any of the SEAL ‘precursor’ units.

When members of the Naval Special Warfare community meet others who claim similar service, but whom they do not recognize, there is a conversational exchange of information that establishes the bona fides of each to the other. There is no set formula for this exchange, nor for the information that is exchanged, but it ALWAYS takes place, and the REAL Naval Special Warfare members can ALWAYS spot a phony as a result of this exchange. I urge you (or those who may have contact with him) to ask Mr. DOLAN three questions:

(1) What was his BUD/S class number?

(2) Where did his training take place?

(3) When did he graduate from Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training?

The answers to those three questions may then be compared to hard, firm, comprehensive documentation to absolutely verify his claims. Real SEALs spend six months shouting their class number in unison at the top of their lungs, many hundreds of times every single day. The graduation from SEAL training is one of the most sought after and hardest to achieve accomplishments of any military man, anywhere in the world… and a man’s class number is a key part of that graduation activity.. The date of that event is engraved indelibly in every participant’s mind. They are more likely to forget their own name, the names of their loved ones, or their own birthday before they forget their training class number or their graduation date. There are many other questions which could be asked to further establish the level of veracity or untruth regarding his claims, but those three questions are absolutes; the answers are totally UNCLASSIFIED, and every real SEAL will gladly provide that substantiating information upon request. If Mr. DOLAN offers you any specifics which he claims answers these questions (or if he offers reasons why he cannot answer them), I would be very interested in learning about it.

It is quite common for those making fraudulent SEAL claims to cite a “secret” training class, “special selection and skills which allowed them to bypass BUD/S training”, or “secret missions” as an explanation for the lack of military documentation to back up their stories. SEAL imposters also tend to claim their military records are “sealed” and cannot be accessed. Occasionally inventive imposters claim their records were destroyed in a fire at the National Personnel Records Center. While that facility did experience a fire, no Navy records were involved, damaged, or destroyed. I would caution you that despite anything the man might have told you, there are NO secret SEALs. Before any classified operations may be undertaken, a man must first successfully complete the totally unclassified BUD/S Training program; the names of all those who successfully graduate from that training program are compiled in the SEAL database. Later participation in classified operations has no impact on whether or not a person is listed as a graduate of the training program. No one gets to the SEAL Teams without completing BUD/S training; there are NO EXCEPTIONS! The graduates of that training program are listed in the SEAL database – an unclassified document which is nonetheless considered “highly sensitive” and therefore not available for general public circulation. There are records of every man who has qualified for the title of “SEAL”; there have been and will continue to be secret missions, but there are NO secret SEALs… we know them all.

I might suggest that you present Mr. DOLAN with a copy of this message. You might also ask him to specifically identify WHICH SEAL Team(s) he served on, and when. I am in direct contact with several hundred of my SEAL Teammates whose collective experience covers virtually all time periods from the Korean War to the present; I can quickly contact those individuals to verify any specific names, events, or other claims offered by Mr. DOLAN. If he feels that his name has somehow been mistakenly omitted from the SEAL records, I’d be pleased to speak with him and hear details of his service which would serve to validate his claims. The Director of the Naval Special Warfare Archives – a close personal friend and SEAL Teammate – is only a phone call away and standing by to amend the records if this is ever found to be true. However, I’ve made the same offer to more than 3,500 SEAL imposters in the last five years… and none of them ever turned out to be valid SEALs. If Mr. DOLAN subsequently suggests to you or others you know that he has contacted me, the Department of the Navy, or “the government” in some way and “straightened things out”, I’d be very interested in hearing from you again.

If Mr. DOLAN has made a practice of claiming to be a former Navy SEAL, and he has been imprudent enough to make those claims in writing on his resume and/or job application, he may be liable for termination by his employer. Most employers take a very dim view of someone offering any false claims or “creative writing” exercises on resumes and/or job applications in order to positively influence the prospects of their being hired. You might offer to share these findings with Mr. DOLAN’s current employer; I will be pleased to offer them any additional assistance in this matter if requested.

No member of the Naval Special Warfare community – i.e. no one in the SEAL Teams or any of its predecessor units – has ever been captured, detained, or held as a POW. You may confirm this fact with the POW Network. I checked the Department of Defense list (provided to NAM-POW, Inc) of all Vietnam War U.S. Military Prisoners of War Returned Alive. There is no one named “DOLAN” in that list. Thus Mr. DOLAN’s claims of being a Vietnam POW are also false.

You may contact the Special Operations Association (www.specialoperations.org ) to request assistance with determining if there is any veracity to the man’s claims of being involved with the “Studies and Observations Group” – SOG, although since he didn’t even have the meaning of the acronym correct, I suspect that his claims of being associated with any SOG mission is as bogus as his claims of being a Navy SEAL. Send your inquiries to the webmaster of that organization ( info@specialoperations..org) and I’m certain that he will forward your question(s) to the appropriate individuals. If you can provide members of that organization with details of the “mission” which Mr. DOLAN claims to have carried out, then they will be able to check with their very extensive membership to determine if such a “mission” was ever undertaken, and if so, who was tasked with its execution. Keep in mind that one of the hallmarks of imposter claims is the re-use of accounts which they find in various ‘war memoir’ books. As a result, there is a good chance that some elements of his claimed mission may actually be similar to one or more real wartime operations. The least clever imposters don’t even bother to “file off the serial numbers” on such stories, and are generally content to simply retell the tales with themselves substituted in a participatory role. The more clever imposters will change details somewhat, or combine several stories, to create a completely ‘new’ story that isn’t immediately recognizable as having come from any one particular source.

My personal assessment would be that the telling of two intentional falsehoods – Navy SEAL, and Vietnam POW – are probably a good indication that all the other claims made by Mr. DOLAN are equally suspect and very probably false. You may obtain absolute confirmation of the true nature of Mr. DOLAN’s military experience and training by filing a form SF-180 with the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, MO. If your inquiry is filed under the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), then you will NOT need his authorizing signature to learn the true nature and extent of his training, tasking, awards, commendations, overseas assignments, etc. The POW Network files a dozen (or more) of these FOIA inquiries every calendar week, and they can assist you in obtaining the information about Mr. DOLAN’S military experiences (if any).

Thank you again for your concern in this matter, and for your assistance in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams

Very respectfully,

Steve Robinson

No one by that name (Robert E. Dolan) was ever with us, the surviving 660 military POWs from the Vietnam War.  Nor is he known by Department of Defense in this regard.  The official DoD web site listing all 3,797 MIAs (including  the POWs) is at:  http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/pmsea/files.htm
Mr. Dolan's name is not listed.  You can call the Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) during normal Washington, DC working hours to confirm this information.  Talk to the DPMO PAO, Larry Greer at: 703-699-1169.

Please continue to work with Mary of POW Network.  She has the investigative ability to get you some answers.  Meanwhile, you .... should dump this bum.  If he is lying about having been a POW, then you can bet that he is lying about a lot of other things, too.

Sincerely,

Good Morning,

I just happened upon a website while doing a general google search for PGR and Patriot Guard. http://www.soft-vision.com/guard/
I was just trying to find other sites/blogs concerning the PGR to see what the rest of the world was saying good or bad.

I about lost my breakfast reading that story. For the PGR to "look the other way" about a fraud like that asshole is repulsive. I actually signed into the PGR under the name of "Truth Seeker" and posted that link in many forums. Within 15 minutes they were all deleted! WTF is up with them? I've emailed ALL of the PGR's so-called leadership in regards to the story of Hardbite; NOT ONE RESPONSE!
Personally, I'd like to see some sort of website started titled something like the Truth About PGR or something like that.
I've made copies of the story and hand them out during PGR missions.. most people just stick it in their pockets to be read later.. I wonder what happens after they read it! Some have read it on site and are appalled especially Veterans like you & I. I was in the Navy from 68-72, I never served in Nam (I was on Submarines) but I have several friends & classmates on The Wall. I have seen many wannabes in my time also, even have uncovered a couple. Stolen Valor is a heinous crime in my opinion and I salute you for uncovering this asshole. I just cannot believe  the mentality of senior PGR people to look the other way. It should have been made VERY public to all.

Keep up the good work, if you need help in exposing this asshole let me know.
It's truly amazing how the lemmings support that jerk Twister! Like, is he the pied piper of Patriotism? There is a post in the pGR store forum about "leathers" this forum chick actually posted harbite's site, even after it was pulled from PGR.. I emailed her and said WTF, why don't you pull that link seeing he's a wannabe... and gave the link to the site about him.. here's my note and her response to me...

Good morning: I don't want to put this on the open forums but there's something you need to know about Hardbite. Read the entire story here. http://www.soft-vision.com/guard/ It has taken some time to get rid of this imposters site from the PGR. When a group of people started challenging Hardbite's true motives it was met by tremendous resistance by PGR high level staff.... It would be appreciated that in the future any reference to this imposter NOT be made and possibly you can delete or modify your post about "leathers".

And you would know this how?   Being a new member, you are making demands that you have no right to make.

I want to personally thank you for exposing this jerk.  I had issues with him from the moment I met him last February on a PGR funeral in Prescott Valley, AZ.  Something in my gut told me this guy was of the same ilk as 3 dollars bills.  My point on contention with his was two fold.  First I felt it very inappropriate that he carried loaded side arm on his belt in full view.  I felt this to be disrespectful to our fallen hero and his family.  Secondly I didn't think it a classy move on his part to attach a link to his "for profit" business on all Arizona Road Captain announcements.

I got the same BS run around from the National PGR officers as you when you exposed this low life.  I attended the funeral of a fallen hero last Saturday in Phoenix, AZ.  Mr. "Wannabe" Dolan was in attendance.  I had wondered why he had resigned as State Road Captain.  I always wonder what the real reason is behind a resignation when that lame old excuse of "family issues" is used.  I want to thank you for exposing him as the phony he is.

I have printed out your wanted poster and all e-mails concerning him and his "wannabe" status.  I will place them in the Tour Pak of my Bagger and if I see him at the next PGR funeral I WILL confront him with the facts.  This lowest of life forms has no right to be in attendance nor walk the same ground as those of us who were and are truthful about their time in the military.  Just as I am honored to be in the presence of a non-vet that supports our causes and thanks us for our sacrifices.

Again, thanks for exposing this jerk for what he really isn't?
I firmly believe that Dinky is one of the biggest loose cannons in PGR.  He was kicked out of In Country Vets MC and now is in Veterans of VietNam MC. At the " Gathering of the Guard" in Oklahoma he had a vest made up with the big PGR patch on the back, WITH a top rocker that said "State Captain" AND A BOTTOM ROCKER with Alabama on it. He made a 3 piece patch! Here's where the story gets real intersting: there was a member of the Banditos ther without colors on. He saw that and flipped out. He went and found Twister and told him to tell Dinky to take it off. Jeff did but Dinky more or less told him to fuck off. The situation became rather tense to say the least, the Bandito managed to remain calm and left the building, Dinky had a moment of lucidity and did take it off, but he was ranting about how he was going to "kick the Banditio's ass" SURE.. UH-HUH .. YEP! Oh yeah..

Thanks for your response.  I am a native Californian.  Born and raised in Vallejo, CA right at the mouth of the Napa Valley.  I too can't understand how the very conservative citizens of this state support that jerk.

If he does happen to come to California please bury him in the Mojave and for God's sake don't send him back.  If I had my way he'd have his gutless body dumped out in the desert were he'd never been seen by anything more than carrion.

I will guarantee you this.  The next PGR ride in Arizona that I attended I will have in my possession all the facts I've garnered from the various web pages outing this lying piece of human fecal material.  With those in hand I fully intend to stand in front of him and as loudly as I can demand that he explain himself.  If the other honest veterans and those non-veterans who support the PGR don't tar and feather him I will do as much as possible to not only further the exposure of Dolan to the public but the Arizona PGR officers who support him.

Yes he has done a lot of work in the past for the PGR but nothing he could possible do will exonerate him from the lies and deceptions he is so guilty of committing.  Many a murderer on death row has found Christ and done much positive to atone for his crimes but he still takes that "dead man walking" stroll to his final punishment.  Nothing this jerk can do will ever convince me that he deserves anything more than banishment from the PGR and it's functions.

I'm can't speak for all the members of the Leathernecks M/C but I would venture to guess that many of us will quit the PGR in Arizona if something isn't done about Dolan attending PGR events.  We will still ride in honor of our fallen brothers and sisters but not under the banner of the PGR.  If it happens to be a fallen Marine hero we WILL lead the procession. .....

I am not affiliated with the PGR. I have observed their mission in Park Hills Missouri and was moved beyond words. The public lined the streets to support our fallen hero and me and my family were proud to be there. My husband was in the Marines in the 70's and it being during war time he is a vet even though he stayed in the states. He is very proud of his service, our country and has the greatest respect for the men and women of the armed forces. My father was Air Force and was in Nam. It is something I know very little about as he is still unable to talk about it.
The PGR states in its mission statement  The only prerequisite is Respect.
Imposters of these great heroes are not meeting this requirement and neither is anyone supporting the imposter. They are STEALING from our heros. It send the message that the service is not necessary to receive the respect they deserve. Its a IN YOUR FACE message that I can get the honor, glory, and respect you "think" you deserve and never make the sacrifice.
I am ashamed of anyone that would try and get the honor that MY heros (as a citizen) have humbly EARNED by being deceitful, stealing, and lying.
I assure you, as a daughter of a veteran and the wife of a veteran, I would not feel that the PGR met its mission by knowingly allowing a man to MOCK the service of our service people.
If that is the only requirement WHY would he lie? It was not necessary to be in the PGR...it was only to steal!
PLEASE continue to fight for the dignity of our soldiers and the PGR...
and Thank You for everything! God be with you...
