=====================================
To all my brothers who know me and who I know by sight, sense, smell and name. I hope that you and you families have had a Happy New Year. Good luck and joy and happiness for the 21st Century America. As a participant who took part in the greatest battle any warrior could participate in, I can say that October 3rd 1993 was a day that a dream was lost for me and a nightmare was begun. To this day, whenever I am in doubt or whenever I need love, I think of that day and it makes me love my country more. I owe a lot to too many good men who al gavegsome, but some gave all. i am a survivor, I am blessed, I am also honored to have shared the wind and the earth with these fine warriors. I will not forget, i will keep the faith, I will keep the dream alive and the memorance and the recognition forever. They are not forgotten. Their memory lives through me. "There is no justice for veterans, there's just us Veterans." --Gen. Powell God Bless America. Rangers Lead the way. NSDQ 3/75th |
| The July '02 issue of The American Legion Magazine has a picture of a him holding a POW/MIA flag on p. 26. The caption says: "Rudy Schwartz Mejia, Jr., of California, a former POW and Army Ranger who fought in Somalia." Post 206 Member Selected for Legion College Highland Park Post 206 First Vice Commander Rudy Schwartz-Mejia has been chosen by the selection committee of the Past National Commanders to represent California at the 2001 session of the American Legion College in Indianapolis in November. Commander Schwartz-Mejia, 32, works for the Los Angeles VA Medical Center in registration. He previously served in the Army for 10 years, including tours with the 82nd Airborne, 101st Airborne and 75th Ranger Regiment Commander Schwartz-Mejia has recruited 16 new members into his post so far, and he says he is amazed how often prospective members tell him they didn't join sooner because they didn't know enough about the Legion. As a result, he describes his main goal as increasing public awareness of the American Legion. "While a one-week class will not provide all of these answers for me, it will give me a sense of what tools are at our disposal," he says." |
