Subject: The Truth about Viet Nam Vets
......Phonies and Frauds
When Burkett first began to investigate his suspicion that fakes were
trading on Vietnam stereotypes, Dallas provided plenty of examples.
-- Former Green Beret Jesse
Duckworth was a common sight at Dallas-area veterans events in the
mid-'80s. Slovenly in dress, he
stank of alcohol and always needed a shave. He frequently bragged that
he had been awarded the Silver Star for combat heroism.
Photographers gravitated to Duckworth at parades and wreath-laying
ceremonies. Journalists asked him for quotes. On Veterans' Day 1986, an
Associated Press picture of Duckworth saluting a pair of jungle
boots at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Washington Mall appeared
in newspapers across the country with captions such as: "Vietnam
veteran salutes war dead."
But Duckworth had never been a Green Beret. He was awarded no medals for
heroism. And he had not served in Vietnam.
J.W. Duckworth had been a
private first class in the Army, and his only overseas duty was in
Germany. Court-martialed while at Fort Hood on two charges of AWOL,
Duckworth had been sentenced to 40 days hard labor and reduced to
private E-1 before being discharged.
============================================================
To
All,
In
1980's/early 90's this POS was hanging
around the Dallas/Ft. Worth Special
Forces Chapter #31, with his side-kick
'Rocky' until he/Duckworth, was busted
as a pathological liar-the prime
character trait of the consummate phony!
I
don't recall his first name but it's
irrelevant-he IS the same Duckworth of
years past who hangs around the real
folks and tries to gain their
acceptance.
I
nailed him on his phony ways of the past
when he was stinking-up Chapter 31 and
his reply was that he's "still with
State Dept. -Air Wing' so thankfully,
he's off the SF kick and now imagining
that he's part of the Foggy Bottom
crowd! Don't ask me how he ties together
his phony Cavalry regalia, his phony
'Afghanistan Combat Veteran' tags and
his phony 'Dept of State' patches all
into one 'real' person but in his mind,
he does it quite well!
In
early 90's, his military record was
checked and if I recall correctly, not
much there-which is 'normal' for these
turds.
Also;
YES, this lump of garbage is wearing
gold spurs on those desert boots! BL

......Duft's military career is documented by nine
Purple Hearts, awarded for suffering wounds from an enemy of the United
States; two Bronze Stars, awarded for heroic or meritorious achievement
of service in connection with military operations against an armed
enemy; one Silver Star, the third-highest combat military decoration
awarded for valor in the face of the enemy; a Distinguished Service
Cross for heroism under fire for all those years in service; German
Marksmanship Medal, Saudi Arabia Medal, Soldier Medal, Helping Hand
Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Legion of
Merit, awarded for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance
of outstanding services and achievements.
"I got the first Purple Heart in Vietnam when I was
17-years-old," he said. "That's a heck of a way to grow up quick. I've
seen things people my age never even thought about. I've seen life."
According to Duft, his first Bronze Star was pinned onto
his uniform by the late President Ronald Reagan, the second in the late
1970s by late President Richard Nixon earned in Korea when he saved a
lieutenant's life. Duft was recognized then for exhibiting meritorious
courage while under enemy fire. The same type of action earned him the
Silver Star......

WWII POW.
Dukes lived in the March AFB area and held a
civilian position on base. He was the most sought after speaker for
military events (Academy graduations, Dining-In's, etc.). His story
was that he was a POW who had been a part of the Baton Death March.
Those he saw him many times never ceased to be touched by
his stories. The Air Force actually renamed the First Sergeant of the
Year Award in his honor in 1996. Within the year he was exposed as a
phony. He had served his country and possibly attained the rank of
Chief but had never been in the Baton Death March. |

=======================================
Years after my book was published, I learned that Duncan had never
been a Seal. I added the following to later editions of the
book:
Much later I learned by visiting
navyseals.com that Del Duncan¹s name appears on the ³Wall of Shame²
for falsely claiming to be a Seal. The following appears at
www.authentiseal.org/reportsd.htm:
NAME: Duncan, Del
FALSE CLAIM: SEAL
CITY: New Knoxville
STATE: OH
DATE POSTED: 05 MAY 2001
RATING: * * * * *
COMMENTS: Part of First Way Corps
The five-star rating, the worst possible, indicates
that ³Claimant is Œincorrigible¹ and continues to make claims
despite proof that his claims are not supported by government records.²
I never had a chance to ask Del about this because
he died two years before it came to my attention, one year after I
last spoke with him on the phone.
I'm sorry for perpetuating a falsehood. But I still
believe that most of what Duncan told me about The Way International
was real. Of course, now that he's dead, it's a little hard to
pin him down on any of it.
Cheers,

When I pointed out to him that his profile said he
graduated from High School in 2007, he said "well
that's wrong" and removed it from his profile. His
wife, by the way looks exactly the same age, and
her profile has the same
graduating class.
His pictures all show a young SPC national guardsman.
He sent Ranger Mike the message below, claiming to have
graduated Ranger School Class 11-03, then went
straight to 3/75.

There is no Duncan, Russ that attended Ranger School in the 2000's.
Also The class that graduated in Nov of 03 was Class 11-02. 11-03
Graduated in Nov of 04.

Frank Dux like
most celebrities is continually subjected to
misleading and sensationalized reporting, that often
results in unsubstantiated allegations being made

For example, the most common allegation of wrong

deceptive in a case of libel and slander of Frank

Claims Master Chief
in the US Navy Seals, and POW during Desert Storm.
Supposedly he was shot twice.
=================
Claims he was
part of DS/DS. He told me that he was part of the SEAL Team that hit
the beaches before the War started.. He claimed to be a Sniper for the
SEALs and that he on several occasions had Saddam Hussein in his scope
so clear, that he could count his (Saddams) nose hairs.. He was
stationed with the SEAL Teams out of Virginia. Said that when he and
his Team went ashore for a Mission in Kuwait, his Team came under
heavy fire and he fell into a "Stick Pit" and was captured.
He claimed that one other Member of his Team was KIA and his body
burned so badly that they could not identify the remains and that he
(Jimmy) had been mistaken for the dead SEAL, so his family had to bury
an empty coffin. Later it was learned that he was in fact he was a
P.O.W. in Baghdad and that he would be home soon..
He always said that his BUDs Class number
was Classified and that due to the work he did with the CIA, that all
of his SEAL information was Top Secret and he could not talk about
specifics.. He claimed that during S.E.R.E. Training that he and his
team "Captured" the SEAL Instructors..
He claimed he had a P.O.W. Medal, a
Purple Heart and A NAVY Cross, for all that happened during the war..
He could not show them to me, cause they were given in a Secret
Ceremony.
....ran into other people who he conned and
scammed. Saying he was not only a SEAL, but that he was in fact a
P.O.W. And had been shot. Would you believe he actually went to a
Catholic Church and asked them for money? He used his
"injuries" to get it.
|
He supposedly works in the Oil Field
somewhere down in Texas or in Arkansas.
==========================
...
If the name you provided was spelled accurately, we do NOT
have a listing for anyone named James/Jimmy
Lee Dyson Jr in our entire database of nearly 10,000 names.
In fact we don’t have a single person listed with the last name
DYSON. Please be aware that I also checked for possible spelling
variations and alternate pronunciations but found none that matched.
Unless
he has undertaken the unlikely action of a full legal name change
since his claimed service with the SEAL Teams, I can state
conclusively that James/Jimmy Lee
Dyson Jr has NEVER completed SEAL training, and he is not
now, nor was he ever a Navy SEAL. While there are other steps that
must be completed before becoming a SEAL, BUD/S training is the first
and most vital. Without having completed BUD/S training, a man cannot
go on to become a SEAL.
It
is quite common for those making fraudulent SEAL claims – especially
claims involving extraordinary combat heroics – to cite a
“secret” training class or “secret mission” as an explanation
for the lack of military documentation to back up their stories. Not
being satisfied with SEAL claims alone, these imposters often make
additional claims of special skills (sniper, courier, etc), or of
participation in covert operations for the CIA or other “shadowy”
agencies, in order to re-emphasize the “ultra-secret” nature of
the work they claim to have done and the “extremely classified”
and “inaccessible” nature of their military records.
The
overall intention is to convey to the listener that the person making
the statements is not only an “extraordinary and deadly warrior”,
but also one of the very rare persons the government has decided to
trust with the most sensitive, top secret information… all in an
effort to make the story teller appear “better” than those who
hear his stories. I would caution you that while there are secret
missions, there are NO secret SEALs… we know them all, and James/Jimmy
Lee Dyson Jr isn’t one of us.
There
is one other extremely important point to make regarding the man’s
claims - there have NEVER been any UDT Frogmen or SEALs captured,
detained, or held as prisoners of war... not in ANY war, not EVER!
This important point of information may be verified by the POW Network
(www.pownetwork.org).
I
checked another online database held by the Department of Defense and
accessed through www.military.com
under the Freedom Of Information Act by using their Buddy Finder. That
database contains over 10 million records, is one of the most complete
available to the general public, and is fairly accurate from about
1974 to the present day. That database originally began as a listing
of all military service personnel who might have been exposed to Agent
Orange while on duty in Vietnam, and was a means of keeping records
for later possible monetary compensation. It was subsequently expanded
to include virtually ALL members of the military in later years. The
closer to the present time, the more detailed and complete the records
in the database. While I found listings for several men named James
Dyson, none of them had the middle name “Lee”, and none of them
were indicated as serving as a “Master Chief Petty Officer” (E9).
Government documentation (at least that portion available through this
particular DoD database) does not appear to substantiate his claims of
military service, and he was most definitely NEVER A US NAVY SEAL! ...

Respectfully,
