From: Loyde P. "Snake" Arender

Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I sincerely appreciate all the time, dedication, and work that you have devoted to our fellow 3/26 Marines and Corpsmen over the years, so I wanted to contact you first regarding our 26th Marine Regiment websites which have somehow been destroyed / deleted from the internet by "unknown parties".

Although I can not absolutely prove who deleted our websites, I personally believe that the deletion was done by former xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I know for a fact that the "two of them" had both my Bronze Star Medal with V and Purple Heart Medal "revoked by the (Acting) Secretary of the Navy B.J. Penn with help from xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx  cronnies at IGMC (Inspector General Marine Corps)".

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx "used us as cannon fodder in the minefields of the Batangan Peninsula in Quang Ngai Province" and I TOLD Him so back about 2005.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, I am sorry that our 3/26 websites have been deleted.

Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful, especially to My Friends)

Loyde P. "Snake" Arender

As of 03/30/2010 - Mr Arender has failed to surrender/return to Quantico, the awards/medals that were rescinded by the SECNAV as he was requested to do by same SCNAV.

BS and PH are bogus. In 2009 the awards were rescinded after an investigation by the Sect of the Navy that took several years and included testimony from his commanding officers and the men he served with.

======

He is former 3/26 Vietnam Marine who has a very creative imagination.  Bad paper did not preclude his being hired as a Monroe LA policeman.

=================================

07/01/2009

To those who might possibly believe the claims of Mr. Arender:

After an exhaustive, 5-year investigation, SecNav concurred earlier this year with a USMC recommendation to rescind the Bronze Star w/Combat distinguishing device, and the Purple Heart Medal from Mr. Arender, since they were fraudulently obtained. Mr. Arender acted on his own to fabricate eye witness accounts, and doctored other official awards documents, to have himself awarded the aforementioned medals. Obviously, no one person, much less a retired, 81-year old Colonel and a former Corpsman, could ramrod or pressure the USMC into making such a recommendation. Such allegations are preposterous, which any sane person can determine.

Further, if it were up to those former members of 3/26 who were associated with Mr. Arender and his efforts to proffer himself a “hero,” we would have preferred to see him keep his various websites up and running. That way, he would have made himself liable to being charged and prosecuted for a 3rd degree federal felony under the Stolen Valor Act, for falsely purporting to be a PH recipient. Instead, I strongly suspect that Mr. Arender well knew what he left himself exposed to if he kept those websites up and running, and prudently opted to shut them down. While I doubt that he will ever admit to such, his efforts to blame others for the demise of his websites is consistent with his “modus operandi “ for the past 20+ years: it’s everyone else’s fault.

Should anyone doubt the accuracy of why and how Arender’s BSM and PH medals were rescinded, we have a hard copy of the 115-page inquiry that was submitted to HQMC in April 2004 which served as the basis for the subsequent investigation. It is “Unclassified” and available for review.

Sent to the Monroe News-Star for consideration as an editorial:

Former Monroe Cop Has Bogus Combat Medals Taken Away

Loyde Arender, a former Monroe Police officer, has recently had Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals rescinded by the Secretary of the Navy. After an exhaustive, 5-year investigation by the Marine Corps and the Department of the Navy, Acting Secretary of the Navy B.J. Penn concurred earlier this year with a Headquarters Marine Corps recommendation to rescind the Bronze Star w/Combat distinguishing device, and the Purple Heart Medal from Mr. Arender, since they were fraudulently obtained. It was determined that Mr. Arender acted on his own to fabricate eye witness accounts, and doctored other official awards documents, to have himself awarded the aforementioned medals nearly 20 years ago. By his own admission in a recent e-mail, Arender acknowledged that the awards had been taken away. Despite the compelling evidence contained in the investigation that the medals were fraudulently obtained, Arender disavows any wrongdoing in the matter, and blames Officers and a platoon Corpsman from his battalion in Vietnam with having the medals taken away from him. The POW Network, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to information distribution on U.S. Prisoners of War and Missing in Action, also provides an alphabetical listing of “Phonies & Wannabe’s” who proffer themselves as war heroes. Mr. Arender is included in this list. See http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies1051.htm.

This glass case contained all of his numerous metals…6 purple hearts, 2 silver stars, 1 bronze star…just to name a few. He told me he was a Delta Force Army Ranger...

He would describe events in Iraq and ask questions about Dallas as though he had never been here.  He purported to have been in the Special Forces (Delta Force) as a sniper earned silver stars, and on one occasion discussed his time in the military where he also displayed a Purple Heart that he also supposedly earned.

Armstrong has stated on numerous occasions and to many different people that he is a recipient of both the Bronze Medal with Valor and the Purple Heart for actions related to his military service in both the US Navy and the US Army during the 1990's. He said he destroyed the original medals and the citations he received related to these honors.  In early 2009, he purchased both these medals and wore them on a USN Sea Cadet uniform in March 2009.

Some of the stories he has told include: that he was the medic in Mogadishu who is shown in the movie "Black Hawk Down,"  that he was the naval corpsman assigned to a US Marine Corps platoon when he jumped atop a fallen Marine and took a bullet under enemy fire in order to save the Marine.  Another version is that he threw himself upon a grenade.

However, a review of his military records under the Freedom of Information Act only confirm that he was in the Naval reserves for 18 months, no Army service and his dates of service do not coincide with the conflicts that he has said he was active in.  Furthermore, his military service record is notably absent of any awards or honors received.

He entices youngsters to himself by ..... nonsense stories of his having been a heroic military sniper.

.....I have yet to paste a picture of my Bronze Star with V for Valor and my Purple Heart for actions during my Ranger Unit's forward deployment into Somalia.

..... I will do so in my Army Dress Uniform that show my Ranger & Airborne Shoulder Tabs, Command Markers (Green Shoulder Boards) along with all of my Breast Devices (Combat Medic, Combat Infantryman, Pathfinder, Airborne & Air Assault) as well as all 19 of my Awards and Decorations.....

Atchison, Thomas 12/2006 Last known Moulton, AL  Has veteran license plates on his car.  Claims Helicopter pilot. He never served in the military.
ATKINS, CHRISTOPHER “CHRIS” 06/2010 Aurora, CO

Claims to be a member of SEAL Team 8. Has fantastic stories to tell that are always somehow short of mundane details.  He has a motorcycle vest covered with SEAL team patches. He never fails to mention it when approaching a woman.

I greatly appreciate your interest in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams, and your search for the TRUTH. Before answering your questions I must make clear that I am a private individual, not affiliated with the US Dept. of Defense or any other government organization. My efforts to expose SEAL imposters are performed as a service to the public, and in honor of my SEAL Teammates who gave their lives in service to our nation… men who truly earned the right to the title “US NAVY SEAL” but who are no longer able to stand forward in defense of their honor, their reputations, and their TEAMs.

If the name you provided is spelled correctly, I do NOT find a listing in the SEAL Database (SEAL Teams and predecessor units from1943 to the Present Day) for anyone named CHRISTOPHER “CHRIS” ATKINS. I have also examined possible alternate spellings, and names with similar pronunciations without finding any that appear to be applicable. In point of fact there are only two (2) men with the last name “ATKINS” listed among the 17,300+ entries in the SEAL Database. One of those men served during WORLD WAR TWO, and the other completed UDT training in 1952 and would be close to 80 years of age at this time.

Unless he has undertaken the unlikely action of a legal name change (an action for which there would be evidence in the form of court documentation) since his claimed attendance at BUD/S training, and based upon the information you have provided, I can state conclusively that CHRISTOPHER “CHRIS” ATKINS has NEVER COMPLETED SEAL training, and he is not now, nor was he ever a Navy SEAL, a Navy UDT “Frogman”, a member of any Naval Combat Demolition Unit (NCDU), or a member of the Naval Amphibious Scouts & Raiders (S&R).

When members of the Naval Special Warfare community meet others who claim similar service, but whom they do not recognize, there is a conversational exchange of information that establishes the bona fides of each to the other. There is no set formula for this exchange, nor for the information that is exchanged, but it ALWAYS takes place, and the REAL Naval Special Warfare members can ALWAYS spot a phony as a result of this exchange. If Mr. ATKINS persists in insisting that his SEAL claims are legitimate, I might suggest that you ask him these questions:

(1) Since there is no listing in the SEAL Database for the name you are currently using, WHAT NAME DID YOU USE during SEAL training?

(2) What was his BUD/S Class Number? (NB: No SEAL ever forgets the class number he shouted all day long, every day, for 6 months)?

(3) Where did his training take place? (NB: Training has been conducted at several locations over the years; different portions in different places)?

(4) When did he graduate from Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training? (i.e. a specific graduation DATE)?

(5) When did he enter the US Navy (a specific month and year)?

(6) When did he leave the US Navy (a specific month and year)?

(7) What were his Primary and Secondary Naval Enlisted Classification codes –NEC– or his Naval Officer Billet Code – NOBC?

There are many other questions which could be asked to further establish the level of veracity or untruth regarding his claims, such as asking for the names of other members of his graduating class, but those basic questions are absolutes. The answers to those questions are totally UNCLASSIFIED, and every real SEAL will gladly provide that substantiating information upon request.

I might suggest that you also ask Mr. ATKINS to specifically identify WHICH SEAL Team(s) he served on, and when. I am in direct contact with several hundred of my SEAL Teammates whose collective experience covers virtually all time periods from the Korean War to the present; I can quickly contact those individuals to verify any specific names, events, or other claims offered by Mr. ATKINS.

Before any classified operations may be undertaken as a SEAL Operator, a man must first successfully complete the BUD/S Training program and the follow-on secondary training program; the names of all those who successfully graduate from that training program are compiled in the SEAL database. Later participation in classified operations has no impact on whether or not a person is listed as a graduate of the training program. There are records of every man who has qualified for the title of “SEAL”; there have been and will continue to be secret missions, but there are NO secret SEALs.

Thank you again for your concern in this matter, and for your assistance in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams. If I can be of any further assistance to you in this matter, please contact me at your convenience.

Aucker hit by charge of altering his record

U.S. prosecutor says former Panther Valley superintendent changed military certificates.

By CHRIS PARKER
Of The Morning Call

Former Panther Valley School District Superintendent Raymond E. Aucker  was charged  Thursday in federal court with falsifying his military records to show he had received a  Vietnam Campaign Medal and Service Ribbon, a Purple Heart and a Navy SEAL medal that doesn't  exist.....
2005 -
He did NOT serve in the navy from 1971 to 1975.  He entered service in 1974.  He claimed he was in the Mekong Delta and the nearest town was Da Nang.  Also, his buddy was  a truck driver on  the Ho Chi Minh Trail.  Obviously, he didn't know what he was talking about.   He has always been phony.
===============
The  SEAL phony group busted Aucker three or four years ago; he was superintendent of a school district in PA, and he left in the middle of the night and headed west.  We tracked him to Georgia and Alabama and kept him from being hired by the school systems there.  You're right--he's one of the worst frauds we have dealt with.  His Master's and Ph.D. are phony, too.

Sir,
I greatly appreciate your interest in upholding the honor of the US
Navy SEAL Teams, and your search for the TRUTH. Before answering your
questions I must make clear that I am a private individual, not
affiliated with the US Dept. of Defense or any other government
organization. My efforts to expose SEAL imposters are performed as a
service to the public, and in honor of my fallen SEAL Teammates… men
who truly earned the right to the title “US NAVY SEAL” but who are no
longer able to stand forward in defense of their honor, their
reputations, and their TEAMs.

If the name you provided is spelled correctly, I do NOT find a listing
in the SEAL Database (SEAL Teams and predecessor units from 1943 to
the Present Day) for anyone named JAMES AVANZATO. I have also examined
possible alternate spellings, and names with similar pronunciations
without finding any that appear to be applicable.

Unless he has undertaken the unlikely action of a legal name change
(an action for which there would be evidence in the form of court
documentation) since his claimed participation in SEAL training, and
based upon the information you have provided, I can state conclusively
that JAMES AVANZATO has NEVER COMPLETED SEAL training, and he is not
now, nor was he ever a Navy SEAL, a Navy UDT “Frogman”, a member of
any Naval Combat Demolition Unit (NCDU), or a member of the Naval
Amphibious Scouts & Raiders (S&R).

Many SEAL imposters when confronted with the information I have
provided will resort to claiming that their records are sealed, burned
or their SEAL Operations were Classified and that there are no
official records of them.
Before any classified operations may be undertaken as a SEAL Operator,
a man must first successfully complete the Basic Underwater
Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) Training program and then the follow-on
secondary training program. The names of all those who successfully
graduate from that training program sequence are compiled in the SEAL
database. Later participation in classified operations has "no impact"
on whether or not a person is listed as a graduate of the training
program.

There are records of every man who has qualified for the title
of “SEAL”; there have been and will continue to be secret missions,
but there are NO secret SEALs.

Once again I must stress that although I am a US Navy veteran, and a
former SEAL, I am a civilian performing in an entirely unofficial
role. I recommend that you obtain a formal/official US NAVY statement
regarding Mr. JAMES AVANZATO's claimed SEAL credentials. To do so you
may contact the PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE at the NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE
COMMAND in San Diego by calling (619) 522-2823, or you may contact the
FOIA COORDINATOR at the NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE COMMAND in San Diego,
