Abbondanza, Sgt. Major
Ralph |

NY |
We
have an upcoming "mission" to honor a Marine who is said to be a Navy
Cross recipient, however, I can not find any information about this
individual at all. Is there a way of corroborating his being awarded
the Navy Cross? His name is Sgt
Major Ralph Abbondanza and he is said to be a survivor of the
Bataan Death March. He passed away in New York.
I did a quick
check of our database at
http://militarytimes.com/citations-medals-awards/.
I didn't find
any awards for a Sgt. Major Ralph Abbondanza. Our database
should include citations for higher awards like the Navy
Cross, although there is always the remote possibility that
there is an error. I myself can't find a Navy Cross award
for the sergeant major although I hesitate to say its
impossible.
Marine Corps
Silver Stars and above are very easy to
track, thanks in large part to the great
efforts in the 1950s of Marine Corps
Historian Jane Blakeney. Vietnam War
Marine Corps awards are a little “iffy”
but with the help of numerous friends,
we’ve pretty well completed that
listing, so I would estimate our
database of Marine Corps Awards of the
Silver Star and higher exceeds 97%
completion, and that our Military Times
database is at or near 100% complete for
Navy Crosses.
I have
run multiple checks of our database
including alternate spellings of
Ralph Abbondanza’s name, and come up
with NOTHING. I am convinced that he
is NOT a recipient of the Navy Cross
and it is extremely doubtful that he
has a Silver Star.
Further,
I checked his name against the NARA
database of Japanese World War II
POWs (as a Bataan Death March
Survivor), he would have been a POW.
While the information in that NARA
database is not as complete as the
Military Times Award database, it is
pretty close. There is no record for
Mr. Abbondanza in the NARA Database
which you can access at:
http://aad.archives.gov/aad/index.jsp
This at least, makes his Death
March Claims suspect as well.
ACTUAL RECORD |

After much
though and much loss of sleep, I have determined to reach
out to have history and honor corrected. Mr. Ralph
Abbondanza is a man guilty of Stolen Valor.
After just
having the gut feeling after hearing about this man’s record
but then after personally reviewing his NP553 and seeing how
he himself has added the Navy Cross & Silver Star, has put
me in a very uncomfortable position. I have spent many hours
researching online his name and the ship he was assigned to
(LSM-190, which was hit by a kamikaze and sunk, weeks before
the Japanese surrendered the War). It is apparent Mr.
Abbondanza could have never been involved with the Bataan
Death March and most likely never a POW. Although this man
has managed to get himself appointed at a President of a
Brooklyn chapter Of the Ex POW and even get his name and
story on the WW2 Memorial down in DC.
I have spent
the weekend in many conversations with high ranking members
of the FDNY who treated this man like the hero they thought
he was, they have included him in trips to Walter Reed and
other hospitals as well as introductions to High ranking
Generals, The FDNY feels personally betrayed and embarrassed
over this situation as well.
This is also
a man who claimed to have been offered a CMOH but turned it
down for actions in Vietnam; he also claimed to be in Korea.
A man who claimed to be a Marine for over 30 years, but was
only a Navy Sailor for 3.5 years. A man who has befriended
Gold Star Parents introducing himself as a Command Sgt
Major.
Mr.
Abbondanza it seems took advantage of the loss of military
record in 1973 by falsifying documents as well as
fabricating stories and has even managed to receive pensions
for injuries which may have occurred during his POW story
according to people that have befriended him over the years.
For Marines
such as Jordan Haerter who earned the Navy Cross and for
soldiers such as Francis Michael Bania who had to endure the
cruelty of the japanese this must all be made right.

[highly unlikely, that would be 3 jumps a day every day for like ten
years.] Claims he was an instructor and jump master.
He uses these stories to get sympathy and financial assistance. He is
now in a wheel chair from numerous back surgeries, He has had
several ( 3 separate women) domestic violence charges against him in

I greatly appreciate your
interest in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams, and
your search for the TRUTH. Before answering your questions I
must make clear that I am a private individual, not affiliated
with the US Dept. of Defense or any other government
organization. My efforts to expose SEAL imposters are performed
as a service to the public, and in honor of my fallen SEAL
Teammates… men who truly earned the right to the title “US NAVY
SEAL” but who are no longer able to stand forward in defense of
their honor, their reputations, and their TEAMs.
If the name you provided
is spelled correctly, I do NOT find a listing in the SEAL
Database (SEAL Teams and predecessor units from 1943 to the
Present Day) for anyone named DAVID MAURICE ABEN.
I have also examined
possible alternate spellings, and names with similar
pronunciations without finding any that appear to be applicable.
Unless he has undertaken
the unlikely action of a legal name change (an action for which
there would be evidence in the form of court documentation)
since his claimed participation in SEAL training, and based upon
the information you have provided, I can state conclusively
that DAVID MAURICE ABEN
has NEVER COMPLETED SEAL training, and he is not now, nor was he
ever a Navy SEAL, a Navy UDT “Frogman”, a member of any Naval
Combat Demolition Unit (NCDU), or a member of the Naval
Amphibious Scouts & Raiders (S&R).
Many SEAL imposters when
confronted with the information I have provided will resort to
claiming that their records are sealed, burned or their SEAL
Operations were Classified and that there are no official
records of them.
Before any classified
operations may be undertaken as a SEAL Operator, a man must
first successfully complete the Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL
(BUD/S) Training program and then the follow-on secondary
training program. The names of all those who successfully
graduate from that training program sequence are compiled in the
SEAL database. Later participation in classified operations has
"no impact" on whether or not a person is listed as a graduate
of the training program.
There are records of every
man who has qualified for the title of “SEAL”; there have been
and will continue to be secret missions, but there are NO secret
SEALs.
Once again I must stress
that although I am a US Navy veteran, and a former SEAL, I am a
civilian performing in an entirely unofficial role. I strongly
recommend that you obtain a formal/official US NAVY statement
regarding Mr. DAVID MAURICE
ABEN's claimed SEAL credentials. To do so you may
contact the PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE at the NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE
COMMAND in San Diego by calling (619) 522-2823, or you may

While serving in the Texas National Guard while attending college
in Austin Texas in 1996 - the Airborne Infantry LRS unit was
forming up an Airborne Task Force in order to participate in an extended
Annual Training exercise in Australia known as "Operation Tandum Thrust,
'97".. The Texas National Guard called upon Airborne qualified
volunteers throughout the state ranks to Augment our unit and double
it's numbers to fill out the 200 plus troopers required for the mission.
Well, one of the volunteer augmentees was an Army Major by the
name of Adams. He stated that he had served with the Ranger
Regiment in active duty Army. While in uniform in the fall of 1996
at Camp Mabry - he wore SF and Ranger tab with Jump wings,
pathfinder and possibly halo wings..
The unit conducted Airborne refresher training and a proficiency
jump at Camp Swift Texas in 1996 and several soldiers were
injured on the jump. Rumor was that MAJ Adams was one of them. The
following month, we
learned from our Company Commander that an investigation revealed
that MAJ Adams had in fact never
been to Airborne school at all, and had fabricated his records.
So, in fact, that bad jump was his only jump and the results were
a broken leg for him. My commander actually briefed the entire task
force formation of the situation and suggested that MAJ Adams was
likely to be discharged from the Army. He also stated that MAJ
Adams had worked in a personnel records assignment at some
point while he was in the Active Duty Army (before joining the reserves or
national guard - whichever he was in when he tried out for the task
force) and that while he was serving in the military records assignment
- that he had fabricated his awards.
"Dwayne E. Adams" with pictures and all is now being
investigated for accusations of stealing $200,000 from Bexar
County (San Antonio, Texas) Democratic Party while serving as the
Treasurer in 2009. If you read one of these articles you see that his
attorney notes his service in the military and his status as a war
veteran. It seems that an image of military valor is being misplaced
upon him again.

point of fact the last name AHNEFELD does not appear anywhere among the
17,600+ entries in the SEAL Database.
Unless he has undertaken the unlikely action of a legal name change (an

When members of the Naval Special Warfare community meet others who claim
similar service, but whom they do not recognize, there is a conversational
exchange of information that establishes the bona fides of each to the
other. There is no set formula for this exchange, nor for the information
that is exchanged, but it ALWAYS takes place, and the REAL Naval Special
Warfare members can ALWAYS spot an imposter as a result of this exchange. If
Mr. AHNEFELD persists in insisting that his SEAL claims are legitimate, I
might suggest that you ask him these questions:
-Since there is no listing in the SEAL Database for the name you are
currently using, WHAT NAME DID YOU USE during SEAL training?
-What was his Training Class Number? (No SEAL ever forgets his class number,
and there are no secret classes)?
-Where did his training take place? (Training has been conducted at several
locations over the years; different portions in different places)?
-When did he graduate from SEAL training? (i.e. a specific graduation
DAY/DATE)?
-Which SEAL Team(s) did you serve on, and when?
The answers to those questions are totally UNCLASSIFIED, and every real SEAL
will gladly provide that substantiating information upon request. Asking him
these questions will make it very clear to him that you are not only
informed on the subject of Navy SEALs, but that you are aware of the truth
regarding his fraudulent claims.
Before any classified operations may be undertaken as a SEAL Operator, a man

Aimetti Americo "Rick" |
04/2010 09/2010 |
Long Island, NY |
Posted a Facebook profile photo of himself which shows him wearing US
Navy LT choke white uniform. Aimetti is not and never was an officer in
the Navy. He served aboard USS LIBERTY for less than 18 months before
he was honorably discharged in 1968 at enlisted rank of E-2. 30+ years
later during the late 1990's/early 2000's, he somehow managed to get a
VA doctor in Long Island willing to sign off on medical forms that he
was "injured" during the LIBERTY's bombing by Israel, and was awarded
the Purple Heart at that time.
Aimetti lives
in Long Island and is a New York regional director with the USN Sea
Cadet Corps., a youth program
sponsored by the Navy League of the US and funded by Congress. Although
the Navy authorizes adults in the sea cadet program to wear certain USN
uniforms when instructing cadets, the dress white chokers that he is
wearing below are NOT authorized. Furthermore and MOST IMPORTANTLY,
wearing of any USN uniforms MUST BE CLEARLY INDICATED OF US Naval Sea
Cadet affiliation by the wearing of 3" x 4" shoulder patches on both
shoulders to prevent confusion with actual Naval officers. As you see,
Aimetti has posted a photo (below) with these patches either whited-out
or absent to give the appearance that he is an actual Navy officer.
Rick Aimetti - Facebook.com profile page photo.
Came across this video on youtube about the USS Liberty. The person
making the video interviews a one Americo Aimetti about his first hand
experience during the attack. Thought you might find it interesting.
Here is the link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecvPvYtEYDI
If you input his name into the search you will also find a few other
videos with him. One I think Is a radio interview. ...
-----------------------------------------------
Americo Aimetti is listed as the CO of NEW YORK (LPD-21) Division, US
Naval Sea Cadet Corps. The photo of Aimetti on the web site shows the
NSCC officer cap device and the rank insignia on his shoulder boards
appear to be NSCC; the star for an unrestricted line officer is replaced
with the same NSCC insignia as the cap device. I do not recall
Full Dress White being authorized for NSCC use. If it were, it would
require shoulder patches and NSCC buttons.
The photo isn't large enough to tell if he has NSCC decorations included
with his Navy decorations but I think the first ribbon in the bottom row
is the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. If he left active duty in
1970, he would have been just at the start of the second eligibility
period?
