| DeGroat, Don W | 11/2007 | Ontario,
Canada Huntington Beach, CA |
Has posted his resume as follows: "Don began working in photography in high school and after graduating he was accepted at Disney's school for fine arts, the California Institute of Art. He worked for 3 years at the University of Southern California Medical Center doing medical photography, then taught high school photography. He then ventured out on his own and started a black and white commercial lab and Photo Gallery, which he ran for 6 years. The next 9 years he owned and operated a commercial studio specializing in photographing food and high tech. For a number of years his career took a different path but photography remained his passion. In 1998 he once again focused on photography." ...nowhere in his resume doe she talk about being in the Navy nor is there a gap that would allow time for a Navy career. Don currently lives in Ontario Canada and runs a small curio shop. If you visit his shop you will see Don has a display of pictures and medals that he claims he won in Vietnam - with a Purple Heart among his medals. ============== FROM RAGING BULL MSG BOARDS .... truly, you have really overstepped the line of being full of ####. hell no i don't know what i am talking about, i only flew f-15's for the navy for years, and you worked on "wink wink" secret projects. why don't you take your secretary and keep on writing emails to opmr telling them how to run their company. or better yet, maybe you should call Mr. Bush and become our national security advisor. hell you might even be a match in stupidity with sandy berger. don http://messages.finance.yahoo.com/Stocks_%28A_to_Z%29/Stocks_O/threadview?m=tm&bn=13437&tid= http://messages.finance.yahoo.com/Stocks_%28A_to_Z%29/Stocks_O/threadview?m=tm&bn=13437&tid=5459& |

| Deppe,
Robert L. |

|
Lakeport, CA area | Staff
Sergeant (E-6) United States Army (1971-1974) SILVER STAR - BRONZE STAR - PURPLE HEART http://www.vfwpost2015.com/robert.html
I arrived in South Vietnam in December, 1971. I was assigned to the
infamous H Company, 1st Cavalry Division Reconnaissance unit, as a
member of Ranger Team 78. We replaced the departing elements of the
173rd Airborne Brigade. 02/17/2008 The ORIGINAL tale. Note the awards listed.
Currently
Mr. Deppe has posted what I believe is a totally fictitious "war
story" concerning his service as a member of H Company 75th
Rangers with the 1st Cav Division in Vietnam. This
tale is posted on several web sites:
and
Interestingly,
the story on these sites appears to be an extended version or
enhancement of the story listed on your "heroes or villains"
site incorporated into this new version of the story Mr. Deppe
has lifted portions of stories posted on the web site of the LRRP/RANGERS
OF THE FIRST CAVALRY DIVISION DURING THE VIETNAM WAR.
http://www.geocities.com/coh75thranger/index.html (if that fails, click HERE)
In
these postings Mr. Deppe claims to have been awarded the Silver Star,
Bronze Star, and Purple Heart for his "courageous" actions
with the Rangers.
We
know that these postings are new and not related to the issue in 2005,
because at least two of the three stories he plagiarized to enhance
his story, were not written and posted until 2007.
Astoundingly,
it appears that he has copied correspondence from and to Mr. Larry
Curtis (president of the 1st Cav. Lrrp/Ranger Association)
and Mr. Bill Anton (75th RRA Representative to the 1st
Cav. Lrrp/Ranger Association). This correspondence appears in the
notation on the "heroes or villains" site in which Mr.
Curtis, and Mr. Anton refute all of Mr. Deppe's claims. This
correspondence has been "reworded" so that it appears
to be an endorsement from both men of Mr. Deppe's story, his
credentials as a LRRP/Ranger, and even calling him a "hero".
The exact opposite of what they wrote and what is posted...
He
has posted these false endorsements with his story on: www.geocities.com/coh75thrangers/index.html
Along
with purported copies of citations to accompany his medals, and
alleged statement of Mr. Anton verifying the authenticity of the
medals and citations, again just the opposite of Mr. Anton's actual
statements.
A ood bit of his tale is plagiarized directly from a letter posted by Scott Hancock in the Unit Guest book October 7th 2007. ============================================== If you read down
go to the sidebars indicating the medals he was awarded, click on the
"Bronze Star" and it takes you to a copy of the Heroes or
Villains list maintained by the POW Network, at: http://users.cwnet.com/aljoy/phonies/phonies1057.htm.
This appears to be a bogus copy of the Heroes or Villains list
containing the altered correspondence from Curtis and Anton, making it
appear that he was checked out and that it was determined that he was
legit. |
Member of VFW
POST 2015
For photos: http://www.vfwpost2015.com/officers.html He is supposedly the service officer for the VFW post. ================ Larry: I would like to add that the "bogus" set of orders for a Silver Star and Bronze Star are inaccurate. The correct designation for our unit was:
Co. H (Ranger), 75th Inf (Abn)
- since all paratroopers were on
hazardous duty orders and drew additional pay for this. If you see what
he has it is incorrect.
Bill: Deppe is not on our roster and I can't find anybody who
knows him. I did find one of the picture on our web site but its
from 1970 not 71-or72

| Dukes, Chief Msgt Spencer | . | . | Claims WWII POW. Dukes lived in the March AFB area and held a civilian position on base. He was the most sought after speaker for military events (Academy graduations, Dining-In's, etc.). His story was that he was a POW who had been a part of the Baton Death March. Those he saw him many times never ceased to be touched by his stories. The Air Force actually renamed the First Sergeant of the Year Award in his honor in 1996. Within the year he was exposed as a phony. He had served his country and possibly attained the rank of Chief but had never been in the Baton Death March. | . | |||

http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080120/NEWS01/801200495/1008
Bigamy, fraud charges dog ex-Louisville man By Andrew Wolfson He stands accused in Florida of bigamy, for allegedly carrying on marriages to two women at once, during which time he proposed to a third. Over 20 years, former Louisville businessman and educator George W. Dumstorf Jr. juggled three wives and a girlfriend, the women say, in what prosecutors call "a scheme to court single ladies ... and make money off of them." To explain his frequent absences, he told the women, who didn't know each other, that he had a secret job at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, that he was an Air Force general, that he worked for the CIA. None of it was true, according to spokesmen for those agencies....... Thinking Stephanie was dead, the bishop gave his blessing, Weed said, and she married Dumstorf on March 27, 2004, in Panama City, Fla. "Gen." Dumstorf wore his Air Force dress uniform..... see the above link for the rest of the story |

Claims Master Chief
in the US Navy Seals, and POW during Desert Storm.
Supposedly he was shot twice. =================
Claims he was
part of DS/DS. He told me that he was part of the SEAL Team that hit
the beaches before the War started.. He claimed to be a Sniper for the
SEALs and that he on several occasions had Saddam Hussein in his scope
so clear, that he could count his (Saddams) nose hairs.. He was
stationed with the SEAL Teams out of Virginia. Said that when he and
his Team went ashore for a Mission in Kuwait, his Team came under
heavy fire and he fell into a "Stick Pit" and was captured.
He claimed that one other Member of his Team was KIA and his body
burned so badly that they could not identify the remains and that he
(Jimmy) had been mistaken for the dead SEAL, so his family had to bury
an empty coffin. Later it was learned that he was in fact he was a
P.O.W. in Baghdad and that he would be home soon..
He always said that his BUDs Class number
was Classified and that due to the work he did with the CIA, that all
of his SEAL information was Top Secret and he could not talk about
specifics.. He claimed that during S.E.R.E. Training that he and his
team "Captured" the SEAL Instructors..
He claimed he had a P.O.W. Medal, a
Purple Heart and A NAVY Cross, for all that happened during the war..
He could not show them to me, cause they were given in a Secret
Ceremony.

He supposedly works in the Oil Field
somewhere down in Texas or in Arkansas.
========================== ... If the name you provided was spelled accurately, we do NOT have a listing for anyone named James/Jimmy Lee Dyson Jr in our entire database of nearly 10,000 names. In fact we don’t have a single person listed with the last name DYSON. Please be aware that I also checked for possible spelling variations and alternate pronunciations but found none that matched. Unless
he has undertaken the unlikely action of a full legal name change
since his claimed service with the SEAL Teams, I can state
conclusively that James/Jimmy Lee
Dyson Jr has NEVER completed SEAL training, and he is not
now, nor was he ever a Navy SEAL. While there are other steps that
must be completed before becoming a SEAL, BUD/S training is the first
and most vital. Without having completed BUD/S training, a man cannot
go on to become a SEAL. It
is quite common for those making fraudulent SEAL claims – especially
claims involving extraordinary combat heroics – to cite a
“secret” training class or “secret mission” as an explanation
for the lack of military documentation to back up their stories. Not
being satisfied with SEAL claims alone, these imposters often make
additional claims of special skills (sniper, courier, etc), or of
participation in covert operations for the CIA or other “shadowy”
agencies, in order to re-emphasize the “ultra-secret” nature of
the work they claim to have done and the “extremely classified”
and “inaccessible” nature of their military records. The
overall intention is to convey to the listener that the person making
the statements is not only an “extraordinary and deadly warrior”,
but also one of the very rare persons the government has decided to
trust with the most sensitive, top secret information… all in an
effort to make the story teller appear “better” than those who
hear his stories. I would caution you that while there are secret
missions, there are NO secret SEALs… we know them all, and James/Jimmy
Lee Dyson Jr isn’t one of us. There
is one other extremely important point to make regarding the man’s
claims - there have NEVER been any UDT Frogmen or SEALs captured,
detained, or held as prisoners of war... not in ANY war, not EVER!
This important point of information may be verified by the POW Network
(www.pownetwork.org). I checked another online database held by the Department of Defense and accessed through www.military.com under the Freedom Of Information Act by using their Buddy Finder. That database contains over 10 million records, is one of the most complete available to the general public, and is fairly accurate from about 1974 to the present day. That database originally began as a listing of all military service personnel who might have been exposed to Agent Orange while on duty in Vietnam, and was a means of keeping records for later possible monetary compensation. It was subsequently expanded to include virtually ALL members of the military in later years. The closer to the present time, the more detailed and complete the records in the database. While I found listings for several men named James Dyson, none of them had the middle name “Lee”, and none of them were indicated as serving as a “Master Chief Petty Officer” (E9). Government documentation (at least that portion available through this particular DoD database) does not appear to substantiate his claims of military service, and he was most definitely NEVER A US NAVY SEAL! ... Very
Respectfully, Steve
Robinson |
