CLAIMS
he was a POW in Nam, that he was in the Army for 20 yrs active, that he
has been retired for 8 years but still works for "Homeland
Security". He states he suffers from PTSD from his time as a
POW. He says all these things in order for women to feel sorry for
him. He gets in their lives, pushes everyone else out and takes
everything she has, including her dignity. Left a trail of AT
LEAST 9 women - maybe more. He has been arrested numerous
times from everything from petty theft, to Grand larceny, Armed Robbery,
Weapons charges (possession of an oozie), drugs and even terrorism.
This is according to his FBI rap sheet from the time spanning 1966-1983.
He was in jail in Oklahoma for 2 years on drug and larceny charges
beginning in 2002. He reportedly has numerous Protective orders against him.

From: Kenneth Popp May 9 2005 9:50:29AM To: Kathy Reynolds (3112) Who else? (in reply to 2) I could definitely go with John McCain as I know him personally as we were both Prisoner of War in Vietnam together at the Hanoi Hilton. He was there for 4 1/2 years (I do not know how he did it) and I was there for 1 year. He took me in like a son as there was about a 12-13 year difference in our ages. Super Great Man.

| Power, Daniel | San Diego | 07/2003 |
I thought I'd tell
you about a little encounter I had today. I was walking
along Broadway in San Diego, going to court to file some papers
against an ex-tenant dead-beat. I came to First Street, and
across the street, on the corner, sitting in a
wheelchair, was a sunburned, bedraggled, very pathetic looking guy
missing his left leg, about mid-thigh. He was a pityful sight, facing
my way, holding a crudely made cardboard and crayon sign which read,
"VET, POW, work for ?". I crossed the street and
walked directly up to him and here's how the
conversation went.....
Me: You were a POW? Him: Yes sir! Me: What's your name?
Him: Daniel.
Me: Daniel who?
Him: Daniel Power.
Me: Where were you a POW? Him: Central highlands, Vietnam! Me: Where? Him: Mid and central highlands. Vietnam. Me: What camp were you held in? Him: Me and four other guys were kept in a hole in the ground, 15 feet deep. Me: How long were you held? Him: 27 months, 4 days, 8 hours and 24 minutes..... Me: What years were you a POW?
Him: 1969, 1970, 1971
Me: What service were you in?
Him: Marine Corps...MOS 300!
Me: I'm sorry about your condition.....as I pointed to his left leg stump... Him: Ahhh, stepped on a land-mine!
Me: I'm sorry about your condition, but I was a
POW in Vietnam.....and you weren't!
His eyes sort of glazed over and he gave me one of the strangest looks
I've ever seen. It literally registered, "How'n
the hell did you know I was lying?" He
didn't say anything else, and I just abruptly left, and didn't look
back, and walked on down the street to the
courthouse.

| POWLOWSKI, DAVID EDWARD | OH | 06/2010 | Claims Vietnam Prisoner of War, Army, 2 Silver Stars, 4 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars. Claims DD214 can only be viewed by persons holding a high security clearance. | NEVER A POW. Born in 1956...... | ||||||||||||||||
| Poynter, Kenneth D. | San Jose, CA | 1998 06/2004 08/2005 (for claims in 1989!!) 08/2010 12/2010 |
Claims 5th longest
held Vietnam POW. Claims Lt. Col. USAF When eating one day, tears started running down his cheek. He stated, "Because of all the things the Vietnamese did to me I can't control my eyes from tearing when I eat." Another time: "I was a POW for 7 years. I was in the CIA in 'Secret Operations'". Later: "I was a POW for two years." And then: "you don't understand, I was a POW for 2 years with the Air Force, then they discharged me to the CIA as I was a CIA operative. I did the other 5 years as a POW with the CIA." 2004 - Because he had been the "5th longest held" Vietnam POW, he was able to get government monies for a business startup. Now, this state's Secretary of State has suspended his company's corporation. Further, he meets with local politicians in support of democratic fundraising and continues to introduce himself as a POW.
2010- He is presenting himself as a
retired Air Force LtCol. and the 5th longest POW held in
Vietnam.
He currently spends a lot of time with the Democratic party in San Jose and wears the uniform of a full AirForce Col. Still saying he was a POW.
The Democratic party would do well to
ditch this bum. Otherwise, they
might be hoodwinked like they were
here in Colorado by Rick Glen Strandlof
who claimed to be a wounded Marine
veteran from Iraq who received a
Purple Heart and Silver Star. Notably,
he founded an organization in
Colorado Springs that helped homeless
veterans. He heartily endorsed
Obama and all other Colorado Democrats
while pretending to be a wounded
serviceman. The Democratic party
loved him and used him
extensively...until he was proven to
be a fraud...then they quietly ditched him
as if he had never endorsed any of
their candidates. MM

| Price, Steven | Virginia | 11/2003 | .....he was captured and taken prisoner. While a prisoner, he was tortured endlessly. They would often just set him and his fellow captives out on the river and hopefully, they'd be brought in before high tide. Or sometimes they'd sharpen bamboo and stab it in the hostage's ears, and because of this horrible torture, Mr. Price is now deaf in one ear. Another anguish Mr. Price had to go through was not being fed. He was forced to live in his own waste and eat the insects, rats and mice it attracted. He went into the war at 135 pounds and came out at 85 pounds. Escape was impossible. Once, he tried to do so and for his punishment they set his leg up on a stump and had a guard jump on it until it broke. For 42 months Mr. Price, or 1801 as they referred to him, had to endure all this, but the worst part he says is the fact that "they took away your identity. You weren't a person any more." Upon his release in 1974, Mr. Price...... | 11/2003 This is not a student's embellishment. The poor kid wrote was he was told. Price should be run out of town. This is a good chance tho for the teacher to now go back and expound on journalism ethics.... TWO sources. Had they check JUST the internet for names, they could have stopped this before it went this far. HOMEWORK. They have to do the HOMEWORK. Otherwise they grow up to be writers that make statements like this: Unfortunately, doing research on a veteran's past history is outside the scope and capability of any newspaper reporter. |

When the story was reported in 2004 - the Publisher was notified,
provided evidence of the fairy tale and false story, and the story was

Claims
to have flown Marine hueys in Vietnam in 1970 as a 17 year old Warrant
Officer, then went went on to transition in into F-14's and back in
country, shot down 3 times, captured etc.
2007- He presented himself as a former colonel of USMC, 18 years old Huey helicopter pilot, shot down in Viet Nam (He showed me a scare behind the head, according to him, done by a VC's bullet), F-4 phantom pilot, "Air America" mercenary pilot, CIA employee in South America, F-117 squadron commander during Desert Storm, Top Gun Miramar instructor, director of his airline company in Malawi with 22 aircraft, 22.000 flight hours, etc, etc...
Anyone out there know of Gary Purdom serving in early 70's in country?? 2008- He has some fantastic stories 2010 -
It looks like someone met with him
back in 2007 and discovered that he was not what he pretended
to be. We had the same experience. ..... because of his
incompetency...
|
No man named Purdom was ever with any one of us, the
real 660 Vietnam era POWs. Nor is he known
by Department of Defense in this regard. The official list of
all
