The price of freedom Combat is not a thing of great valor. It is a terrible situation in with normal men and women, realize without their sacrifices, that the future generations of their families will not get to enjoy the freedoms, which we hold so dear to our hearts. We have to stop people like Hussein, because like Hitler, Stalin, and many others, they are never satified with thier own possessions, they want to own their neighbors possessions. "A Baller" "The Brotherhood" "We band, we happy band of brothers, for he who sheds his blood with me today shall forever be my brother". A Marine never leaves his "Marine brother" even when it is his "Marine brother's" corpse. Thoughts From the moment you step off that bus and start your first day as a Marine, those fantastic bastards known as Drill Instructors teach you some things that will remain with you your entire life. You will become a Marine, a member of the finest fighting force in the world. You will always remain a Marine. That Marine Corps spirit will remain with you until they put you in the ground and then you will help guard the Gates of Heaven. website is not for the squeamish - the article was written in 2001 and
apparently Miles hadn't made general then... Here's the

Memorial Highway sign is unveiled in time for the holiday By David Davis Managing Editor Published Sunday, May 27, 2007 6:00 AM EDT An impromptu ceremony was held Saturday morning to unveil the sign designating a portion of APD-40 as Veterans Memorial Highway between Parker Street and Lee Highway. State Representative Kevin Brooks had been urging the Tennessee Department of Transportation to get one of the signs up before Memorial Day weekend, which they did at the last minute. ..... Brooks said former Vietnam Prisoner of War and Desert Storm veteran John Miller was the catalyst behind renaming APD-40. The retired sergeant spent 42 years in the Army Reserves and as a full-time employee with the 196th Field Artillery in Chattanooga. He served in Desert Storm at the age of 55. Renaming APD-40 was the first bill Brooks filed as a legislator. |

to name the hill, he named it Christmas tree hill since it was
Christmas day, so he cut down a Christmas tree and stuck it on top

According to his wife they even enlisted
the aid of US Senator Barbara Boxer to get his compensation rating
raised to 100% so that he gets money for a spouse and she gets medical

I was captured in Viet Nam in 1970. Kept in a cage for four weeks. When I returned to my base, my CO told me that I was a disgrace to my patoon. I have no record of ever being a POW. Is there a way
that I
can trace the paperwork that was generated to prove that I was
rescued. All that I remember is that after being rescued, I was
put into a hospital for two week. I can't remember
if it was the First of Second Calavary. I do believe it was the
army soldiers who found me. I have been fighting the VA to get
compensated for PTSD and Agent Orange. I have been denied since I
came home for Nam. I'm on 100% Social Security disability,
based on my Medical records from Castle Point, VA Hospital.

Stated he was in Thailand. Based in "Kum" or "Koom". Repeated it several times. Then he said it was a secret CIA base. As he was wearing a VN vet cap I suspect he has made a career of being a phony POW. Then he asked me if I was in VN and I said I was. He changed the subject of his captivity. and was released in 73, Operation Homecoming. Claims his name is
James J. Morrison, US Army, Sgt E-5, SN: RA122647777, and a state inmate
in NY.
Morrison has had poetry published twice as a "POW." He was incarcerated twice and then returned to the prison to help in rap groups. Morrison opened that program by reciting the pledge of allegiance... bringing tears to eyes of many and goosebumps to the arms to think that a man who was a POW and now incarcerated by his own government would still pledge his allegiance to our flag). ... The pledge of allegiance incident upset one man so much he had Morrison's nickname "Dutch" tattooed to his wrist along with a barbed wire band and the initials POW/MIA. A POW medal was purchased and sent to him a couple of years ago!! Morrison was a part of the Rehabilitation Treatment Program in NY State. The RA number he provided for a records check was phony too - no records found! But of course he now says USAF.... |
NOT
to be confused with James S. Morrison, Hendersonville, North Carolina .
He is an Air Force veteran that served with honor after joining the service
in Reno.
We regret any difficulties the name "Jim Morrison" may have caused for JSM in the past. |

Obituary: Muñoz was held as POW nine months in Vietnam
War
Web Posted: 10/20/2005 12:00 AM CDT
Carmina Danini
Express-News Staff Writer
Roberto Lee Muñoz, 53, who served with the Marines in
Vietnam and was held prisoner for about nine months, died Sunday of
head trauma suffered in a fall at home.
A noon Mass will be celebrated today at St. Jude
Catholic Church at 130 S. San Augustine. Interment will be at Fort Sam
Houston National Cemetery.
Muñoz was still in his teens when he dropped out of
Edgewood High School to enlist in the Marines.
He was sent to Vietnam, where he saw combat with an infantry unit.
He was captured and held by the North Vietnamese, but
most of what happened to him remains unexplored.
Officials at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery could
not confirm Muñoz was a prisoner of war.Little
of that period is known because Muñoz rarely disclosed anything about
Vietnam, said his mother, María Alicia De La Garza Muñoz.
But a sister, Rita M. Ross, said Muñoz opened up to
her about his experiences in Vietnam after she
joined the Army and another sister, Lily Muñoz, to whom he had been
particularly close, died.
Muñoz, Ross said, was first listed as missing in
action.
"He didn't know where he was held, but he told me
he thought he would never see mom again,"
she said.Ross said her brother told her he was kept with other POWs in
a cage, and food was scarce.
"When they were given something to eat, the food
was thrown at them through the cage," she said. "If I asked
more about that time, he would stop talking. It was too
traumatic."
Muñoz's mother said he returned from the war
"different. He was scared of things."
Muñoz was awarded two Purple Hearts, but nothing is
known about his wounds, where he got them or
when.
Muñoz's paperwork was lost, and it took a friend who
worked at the Veterans Administration nearly
three years to find his military record, Ross said.
The father of three, Muñoz worked as a painter and was
in construction.
He is survived by daughters Rose Lee, Brandie and
Syndee Muñoz; another sister, Adriana M. Burt;
and eight brothers, Cleo, Ramon, Ricardo, Rene, Daniel, Alfredo, Oscar
and Gene, as well as two grandchildren, all of San Antonio.
Muñoz's mother had hoped to bury her son in his Marine
uniform, but that wasn't possible because he discarded every piece of
his uniform and apparel that related to Vietnam.
"He threw away all his uniforms because he hated
the war," María Muñoz said. "That's
why he's being buried in a shirt and blue jeans."

am sorry you found a misleading site as I have all my billet papers and

frightful things and they are vivid in my mind. The list you

fed you some bad information. My parents were hand delivered a

August 3, 2004
.... recently let a man claiming to be a POW come and live with.... met him in Baton Rouge , Louisiana while touring the US KIDD.... felt sorry for him, with his stories of being a Vietnam POW and while captured his entire family including his girlfriend that was pregnant with his baby were all killed in a motor vehicle accident. He told stories of being tortured for 8 years. Says that he escaped several times hoping they would just kill him. Each time he was brought back and put in baskets and put into the water for days. Nothing to eat but dirty rice, worms and bugs. Stated that he was tortured by being hung up with bamboo shoots being pierced through his shoulders and through his scalp. Says that 10 of them finally escaped and he and another were the only ones that made it out alive. Says the other eight were shot or beheaded. Told a sad story of living in New York being diagnosed with bone cancer and sent to Ocshners hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana to die. Stated that because he thought he was going to die he signed away all of his VA benefits. He had no money and no place to go. This is the reason for ... taking him in. ... helped him to make phone calls to get his benefits re-established. Gave him a place to live, food, anything he needed. On a hunch, I started doing some research on the internet and came up with nothing until I found your website. And there was his name Murray, Thomas.... was notified and she called the sheriff's department. Within hours they called back and said that they had already come up with warrants for his arrest in three states so far. His was taken to jail at 4am today. So I would like to say thank you for your website and the work that you have done. It may have saved our family. |
