He told us all about his life in the service, CIA, and
was a millionaire. He was really good at his story. He said he had 100's
of acres in Montana along the Yellowstone River. He said he wrote a book
and was getting it published.

Reported - Beau lives on the farm he works at in
Corrales, NM. Beau lives at the farm in a room not much bigger than
the stables
are. Looks like a mobile home cut into 3rds and he got
1/3. Certainly does not live like a millionaire - and he doesn't
"own the farm."

Regarding your article on Richard Lancaster, he
was never with any one of us, the real 662 surviving POWs
of the Vietnam War, nor is he known by the Department of Defense
in this regard. He is an imposter. A fraud. A wannabe
POW. You can find the official Department of Defense list of
MIAs/POWs at the following site. Mr. Lancaster is not listed:
My recommendation to you is to "get even" with
this clown. He took advantage of you. He lied to you.
Your best course is to research the facts, determine his real
background, ask him his motive for lying to you, and then
publish a follow-up article letting the fine folks of your
community know the truth. Your readers have been lied
to. They deserve the truth. I would be glad to help you
with your research. Mary Schantag of POW Network would
be glad to help you with your background search,
including obtaing his service record (if he even served at all)
from the National Records Center in St. Louis.
I went through flight training at NAS Meridian. I lived in
Meridian. I love Meridian. I do not like frauds who lie to the
citizens of Meridian.
You are welcome to use any part of this letter as a Letter to
the Editor.

Vietnam POW, Purple Heart, Desert Storm service.
Professor at Manatee Community College, Bradenton, FL.
and a teacher for Manatee County Public Schools.
------------------------------------------------
Dr. Landers told our class that he was taken prisoner
by the North Vietnamese during the war. He said that they
tried to interrogate him but he refused to give them any information,
spitting in one of the interrogator's faces at some point. He said
that the interrogator pointed his gun at his head and pulled the
trigger, but the weapon was empty and it didn't fire. The Vietnamese
soldier allowed him to live for some reason and he was eventually
freed.
Dr. Landers said that he was in special
forces...
Dr. Landers also claimed to be a war planner during the
Gulf War. He claimed to have aided in designing some kind of strategy
used by coalition forces.
2009 -In Karen Rose's book, Kill For Me.....in
her acknowledgements she cites "Myke Landers for sharing his
experience as a survivor of a POW camp in Vietnam. I was honored
and forever changed.
Thank you".
"There are
many things about that war that are still classified."
"There
is much that I have not said. If you’re so “smart,”
you’ll agree with what the wise man once said, 'Believe much in
what you know, and nothing in what you’ve heard. Rumors and
innuendos are easy to come by and are valued at nothing.' "
"The
lack of documentation is regrettable and annoying, but true.
One must either accept that reality, or not. However, I have
wrestled with this problem for a number of years, and it has caused
me considerable and significant heart ache, as well as some petty
annoyances. I have learned to get on with my life, anyway.
There is little more that I can add to this discussion, especially
under this “cloak of anonymity.” So, if you can’t accept
my explanation, I’m sorry; I don’t think there is much point in
continuing the dialogue."

No
man named LANDERS is listed as having been captured during Vietnam.
Actual Records
2006 reports
indicate he was in
Missouri before he came to Florida.
He had $45,000 in court judgments against him between 1998 and 2000.
His chiropractic license in Missouri
is no longer valid and he doesn't hold one in Florida; he no
longer seems to hold a K-12 public school teaching certificate either
(he's teaching at Manatee School for the Arts, it seems, which is a
charter school and probably exempt from the state's certificate
requirements).

subject John Langan Obituary
Dear Sir or Ma'am,
My name is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, I am the son of the
deceased John P. Langan who you performed the services for
recently. The purpose of this email is to enlighten you that my
fathers information is not correct as it is stated on the
obituary. I am afraid that he was never a Navy Seal nor was he
an enemy prisoner of war. John served for two years in the US
Navy. After receiving basic training in at the Naval Station
Great Lakes he was assigned to the USS Semmes DDG-18. This ship
served in the US 6th fleet and here is a brief of what she did
during the time my father served abourd her-
--From February to July 1966, the guided
missile destroyer conducted
her second tour with the 6th Fleet and, on
her return to the United
States, changed her home port from Charleston
to Norfolk, effective 1
August in anticipation of her first major
overhaul at the Norfolk
Naval Shipyard. In April 1967, Semmes resumed
operations with
refresher training in the Caribbean. In July,
she rejoined DesRon 6 at
Charleston; and, in August, she deployed for
her third tour with the
6th Fleet. She participated in fleet and NATO
exercises into January
1968; then returned to Charleston, arriving
on the 31st for a month's
rest before resuming operations in the
Caribbean and off the east
coast.
On 10 June, Semmes again sailed east. During
that month and into July,
she visited Germany and Denmark then turned
south for another 6th
Fleet deployment. On 15 November, she was
relieved by John King
(DDG-3) at Rota, Spain; and, 11 days later,
she returned to Charleston
where she remained in port for the rest of
the year.
In January 1969, she cleared Charleston to
participate in ASW and
"Springboard" exercises in the Puerto Rican
operating area, then
returned to her homeport. In April, she
returned to the Caribbean for
2d Fleet exercises.
At no time did this ship enter into direct combat
or combat support in any capacity. From there my father
returned from the Navy and to Columbus Nebraska to be with me
and my mother XXXXXX. Within a year after his returned my
sister XXXXXXX was born.
I am respectfully asking you to remove from your
web page the referrence to John P. Langan
that he was a Navy Seal and Prisoner of war. It is unfortunate
that he chose to live his life vicariously and
made fraudulent claims about his military
record. He was an imposter, and the theft of valor to those
who have placed themselves in harms way will not be tolerated.
I have further evidence and the testimony of multiple family
members to confirm this claim. I ask that you remove this
immediately......
Sincerely,
[

RECEIVED 01/2009
Rodney
Drew Lawrence who claims to have served on Navy seal team one in 68-72.
He also claims that he was a POW and escaped after being tortured. He
has a DD214 in his wallet. He claims he has a Navy cross,2 purple
hearts, 2 bronze stars and a silver star. He doesn't have enough info to
back this up. He claims his medals were stolen and that his navy seal
records are sealed. He wears a ballcap with Navy Seal on the front of
it. He wears a " Budwieser" on a chain around his neck. He
wears a Rolex watch with U.S. Navy stamped on back. He said they gave it
to him when he completed training at Coronado Island.
Driving
with PH license plates not authorized, claims SEAL, POW, and NX among
other things.
ACTUAL
RECORDS
12/2009
Since he is now reported to have official Colorado POW
plates, he probably has committed fraud. POW issued plates
receive a tax forgiveness....
The only way he can get the POW plates is to get a letter from the
VA stating he was a POW. That letter is then presented to the
State DMV with an application for POW license plates. The only
way he could get the letter from the VA is to submit fraudulent
documentation or testimony to the VA. So, he has probably
committed two counts of fraud and one count against the Stolen Valor
Act (all Title 18).
My recommendation is to report the matter to the VA OIG, to the
federal
attorney general's office (reference the Stolen Valor
Act of 2005, wearing
false medals, making false claims as a SEAL, etc.),
and report him to the
Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles noting the POW
license plate
number.
Sincerely,
Mike McGrath

Please pass
this information along in response to the inquiry regarding Mr. Rodney
Drew Lawrence and his claims of being a US Navy SEAL.
To
Whom It May Concern:
I
greatly appreciate your interest in upholding the honor of the US Navy
SEAL Teams, and your search for the TRUTH. Before answering your
questions I must make clear that I am a private individual, not
affiliated with the US Dept. of Defense or any other government
organization. I am one of about a dozen men in America who possess a
copy of the SEAL Database, a comprehensive and regularly updated listing
of all men who trained and served with the Naval Special Warfare units (SEALs,
UDT, NCDU, S&R) from the end of WWII to the present day. I also have
access to archival sources who can verify/deny claims of service DURING
WWII. As a former US Navy SEAL myself, I am fully familiar with the NSW
training program and the standard operating procedures used by the
Teams, as well as an in-depth personal knowledge of many of the
‘insider’ events and incidents which UDT “Frogmen” and SEALs
offer as a part of their bona fides. My efforts to expose SEAL imposters
are performed free of charge, as a service to the public, and in honor
of my SEAL Teammates who gave their lives in service to our nation…
men who truly earned the right to the title “US NAVY SEAL” but who
are no longer able to stand forward in defense of their honor, their
reputations, and their TEAMs.
If
the name you provided is spelled correctly, I do NOT
find a listing in the SEAL database of successful graduates for anyone
named RODNEY
DREW LAWRENCE. I have also examined possible alternate
spellings, and names with similar pronunciations. There are only five
(5) men listed in the entirety of the SEAL Database (end of WWII to the
present day) with the last name LAWRENCE.
None of those five (5) men has the first name “RODNEY”
or the middle name “DREW”
Unless
he has undertaken the unlikely action of a legal name change (an action
for which there would be court documentation) since his claimed
attendance at BUD/S training, and based upon the information you have
provided, I can state conclusively
that RODNEY DREW LAWRENCE
has NEVER COMPLETED SEAL training, and he is not now, nor was he ever a
Navy SEAL.
It
is quite common for those making fraudulent SEAL claims to cite a
“secret” training class, “special selection and skills which
allowed them to bypass BUD/S training”, or “secret missions” as an
explanation for the lack of military documentation to back up their
stories. They also tend to claim their military records are “sealed”
and cannot be accessed. I would caution you that despite anything the
man might have said, there are NO secret SEALs. Before any classified
operations may be undertaken, a man must first successfully complete the
totally unclassified BUD/S Training program. No one gets to the SEAL
Teams without completing this training; there are NO EXCEPTIONS! The
graduates of that training program are listed in the SEAL database –
an unclassified document which is nonetheless considered “highly
sensitive” and therefore not available for general public circulation.
There have been and will continue to be secret missions, but there are
NO secret SEALs… we know them all.
I
must also make one other extremely important point - there have never
(NEVER!) been any UDT Frogmen or SEALs captured, detained, or held as
prisoners of war... not in ANY war, not EVER! This point may be verified
by visiting the web site of the POW Network at www.pownetwork.org
and corresponding with the directors of that organization.
An
amendment to Title 18 USC, Section 704, called the “STOLEN
VALOR ACT” (S.1998), was signed into law on 20 Dec 2006,
and now makes it illegal to even make false VERBAL
claims of receiving “any of the
service medals or badges awarded to the members of such forces, the
ribbon, button, or rosette of any such badge, decoration, or medal, or
any colorable imitation of such item”. That amendment very
specifically identifies certain awards for valor – including the
CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR, the DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS, the NAVY
CROSS, the AIR CROSS, the SILVER STAR, the BRONZE STAR, the PURPLE
HEART, and the POW MEDAL – which, if falsely claimed, are considered
grounds for prosecution. It must be presumed that since the earning of
the status of US Navy SEAL carries with it a special Naval Enlisted
Classification (NEC) code and a unique breast insignia (SEAL Trident
badge) that the offering of false verbal claims of being a SEAL would
also fall within the jurisdiction of this amended version of the 18USC.
This matter, of course, would be for the courts to determine.
Mr.
LAWRENCE’s claims of
being a SEAL are false. Mr. LAWRENCE’s
claims of being a POW are
false. If Mr. LAWRENCE’s
claims of having been awarded the NAVY
CROSS, two PURPLE HEARTS,
two BRONZE STARS, and a SILVER
STAR are also proved false, these are all violations of
federal law and as such are all prosecutable offenses… subject to both
fines (up to $5000) and imprisonment (up to 6 months) on each count for
which there is a conviction....
Thank you
again for your concern in this matter, and for your assistance in
upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams.
Very
Respectfully,
Steve

Claims to be a POW of the Vietnam War, having spent 18
Months in a Steel Cage, being tortured in "unspeakable
ways", he claims to be part of Navy Special Forces, but when
asked if he was SEAL, he always answers, "No, one of the other
ones...." without specifying what Special Force he was a member
of.
He uses his "status "as a Vietnam Vet/POW to
pick arguments and confrontations with people and threatens people
with physical harm if they say or do anything to disgrace POW's/Vets
or the great country of USA.
Also Claims to be Cherokee Indian and that he grew up
on a Reservation, something no one has been able to confirm, He is
very active on the Powwow curcuit and seem to have a group of
followers that looks up to him because of his alleged history.
He also claims to have gotten away with a murder in a
barfight because of his status as a war hero. He claims he was
acquitted of all charges because he was a war hero, even though nobody
seems to have a recollection of a barfight ending up with anybody dead
in the time period Mr. Leonard specifies.
Mr.Leonard seems to build his entire life around his
POW story and talks about it continuously and EVERY chance he gets.
