Man lied about being vet, U.S. says

The former chairman of the Constitution Party of Montana faces newly filed federal charges accusing him of falsely claiming to be a decorated Vietnam War veteran while seeking treatment at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Spokane.

Michael D. Heit, who now lives in Harrington in Lincoln County, is scheduled to appear today in U.S. District Court to enter a plea to a two-count criminal information filed Monday by Assistant U.S. Attorney George Jacobs.

The first count alleges Heit unlawfully used and possessed a "forged or falsely altered certificate of discharge from military service," claiming he had served in Vietnam and had been a prisoner of war.

Heit is accused of using those phony discharge papers on July 20, 2005, when he went to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Spokane seeking medical care, court documents say.

The second count alleges Heit submitted papers to the Military Order of the Purple Heart on Aug. 18, 2005, claiming he had been awarded a Purple Heart and a Silver Star for his service in Vietnam.

Heit once was the chairman of the Constitution Party of Montana and once ran unsuccessfully for the Montana Legislature, according to Internet records that were confirmed by a law enforcement source in Montana.

He also was involved with a group called JAIL – Judicial Accountability Initiative Law – which contends the doctrine of judicial immunity has been greatly abused, according to its Web site.

Earlier this summer, Heit was identified as an "investigator" working with the National UFO Reporting Center, based in Davenport, Wash. The center's director, Peter Davenport, said he was involved in investigating "crop circles" that appeared in a Lincoln County wheat field near Wilbur.

In 2002, when he lived near Kalispell, Mont., Heit was identified as a member of an anti-government militia group, known as Project 7, which had a hit list of law enforcement officials.

During that investigation, authorities raided a trailer belonging to Heit and found a fully automatic machine gun, weapons, ammunition and explosives. He was not charged, but the group's leader, David Burgert, was convicted in Montana of federal firearms charges.

Subject: apology

Please accept my apology for portraying a POW these past few months.  I apologized to the church I "duped" and I am now seeking counseling.  I did serve in Vietnam with the Marine Corps and I have nothing but admiration for the "real" POW's. Thank you for exposing this charade before it could escalate further. I am ashamed and regretful for my actions.

HENDERSON, LARRY LLOYD ALASKA 03/2008 LARRY LLOYD HENDERSON

Nov. 14, 1943 ~ March 19, 2008

Anchorage resident Larry Lloyd Henderson, 64, died at home March 19, 2008, of natural causes.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at South Anchorage Assembly of God, 12101 Brayton Drive . Dr. Norman Lindsay, senior pastor with South Anchorage Assembly, and the Rev. Stephen Yie, Anchorage Chinese Gospel Church of the Nazarene, will officiate.

Larry was born Nov. 14, 1943, in Bellaire , Mich. , where he lived until joining the Army in 1963. While flying Special Forces missions in North Vietnam\l "I", his Chinook helicopter was shot down in 1966. Injured, captured and held as a prisoner of war for six years, he eventually returned stateside and was awarded the Medal of Valor for bravery in 1972.

Larry's health suffered as a result of captivity. He remained at Elmendorf Air Force Base Hospital until 1978, making lifelong friends along the way with other soldiers.

In 1979, he attended Ferris State College in Michigan , where he studied industrial technology for two years. Working for Wolverine World-Wide Movers as a power-truck operator during the early 1980s, the "Call of the Wild" brought Larry back to Alaska in 1983.

In Fairbanks , Larry homesteaded, operated a fish wheel and a gun shop while hunting and even gold prospecting. He even found time to renew his passion for flight, taking others aloft for a thrill, his family wrote.

Larry moved to Anchorage and married in 1991, adopting a daughter, Tina Henderson, and son, Larry Henderson Jr.

His family wrote: "His granddaughter, Jade Henderson, put a sparkle in his eye and a smile on his face. The early death of his daughter, Tina, however, ushered in the end of the marriage.

"After a few years, while working in Anchorage for Wal-Mart, Larry met Amy Chen, a civilian worker at Fort Richardson . The two were enamored with one another and married shortly thereafter."

Larry and Amy attended Anchorage Chinese Gospel Church of the Nazarene and later South Anchorage Assembly of God, where they actively participated in a small group Bible study on Sunday evenings.

"He was generous to a fault, often bearing gifts for those he visited; recently he delivered entire pots of hearty, homemade, corned beef stew to several Anchorage households in celebration of St. Patrick's Day," his family wrote. "Though he was bound by men and suffered at their hands, Larry yet forgave them in view of Jesus' words: Luke 6:37."

Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife, Amy of Anchorage; granddaughter, Jade of Anchorage; two brothers; one sister; mother, Beatrice Baker of Bellaire; son, Larry Henderson Jr. of Bellaire; brothers, Ret. U.S. Army Capt. Jeff Branstettler of Anchorage and Butch Henderson, U.S. Marine Corps, Expeditionary Forces, deployed in Afghanistan.

Capt., You wont find any Pow Statis on me unless you have Confidential Security Clearance,Acess, Defense Information. I am In process of trying to get that file open. Sorry thats all I can say for now...

Capt. Are you familiar with the DA form 2962? My Training,Trip to Vietnam as well as my mission there Is Confidential. Why you may ask? Because of the sh-t that went down. In 1971 1st Special Forces Group as well as other parts of the Gov. thought they were above the law. I am trying to get this file open, but I also fear to say any more about this for fear of prosecution. After all Pres. Nixon had to get a pardon. Take It or leave It.

I will put you on my prayer list because you are the most up tight person I have ever come across, except drug abusers? You got me blocked from the forum what else do you want? I can not and will not deny what I have said, because that would be like denying Jesus. So send all the Law folks you want, I'll except them with open arms..

It sickens me that an agency such as yours that claims to support Vets and POWs will take an unsupported claim about someone else's story of what happened to them without having access to classified documents that the government refuses to release to the person involved.  Why would the government release information to you and not the Vet involved?  To post a person's picture and name without any real documentation is dirty and underhanded.  I think people should not trust your site.  Anyone who truley believes that our government is above board with what happened during the Vietnam Era is ignorant of the truth.

1) There is NO classification as "Confidential Security Clearance, Acess, Defense Information." Take if from a former "TS, SCI, SIOP, CNWDI." There are ONLY three classifications for military evidence.

2) DA Form 2962 is a security termination statement. This is signed by EVERYONE who had access to information that is FOUO (That's For Official Use Only...in other words, just about everybody.)

3) Per OFFICIAL NOTIFICATION from DOD, there are NO opertaions, missions, etc, that are Classified anymore. A classification as "Confidential" can mean ANY information rated under the classification of "Secret."

4) If everything you did was "confidential" and you can't talk about it, why are you violating OPSEC and mentioning it?

You are so full of crap that you need a septic tank. Your story is pathetic, and blatantly false, as shown by your made up "security clearance." Obviously you have NO knowledge of restricted information in the military.

====================

The 1st SFGA, which my sons are members of, had a few teams in Vietnam TDY in the very early sixties, no later. They were replaced by the 7thSFGA, which I commanded an A-Team on directly after, and then the 5th SFGA came in during the mid-sixties, and covered the entire country. I served with them on an A-Team in 1968-1969. There was absolutely, positively no members of the 1st Group in Vietnam in 1971 or anywhere around that time. Secondly, if a guy was in a classified project and the government was keeping it out of the public domain, “confidential” is the lowest security rating there is, so that does not even make sense. If he wanted to be a better liar, he should have at least said Top Secret. Thirdly, I was in a Top Secret unit, the Phoenix Program, and many friends were in Top Secret programs such as MAC-V/SOG and Operation White Star, and nobody had or has their DD-214 or service records in any Top Secret jacket. Titles of Top Secret units are not classified, only the unit’s operations are. The guy also has not been listed as an MIA or POW and would be even if he was in a classified project, and he is in direct violation of the Stolen Valor Law for claiming that, SF status, and phony medals, and should have his ass thrown in jail. You can feel free to share my words with him. PLEASE? He owes the men of the US Army Special Forces past and present as well as all Vietnam POW’s a sincere IMMEDIATE apology for posing as something he was not. If not, then he will deal with our wrath. SF also did not have corporals in Vietnam, only sergeants and above, and most especially would never have any in any classified units. He is a dishonorable liar, and not even a good one at that, and his wife is a total fool for believing his bogus line of James Bond bullshit, and she should also toss his sorry wannabe ass to the curb for disgracing her and her children by being a phony and passing a legacy of dishonor along to her family.  When his wife attacked the POW Network, I wonder if she has a clue about how much the FBI counts on your assistance to help put away dozens of phony wannabes.

Iraq: The New Vietnam?
1/12/2007

Ted Latiak
WCJB, TV20 News

The President's announcement to send more troops to Iraq is being met with mixed reactions from people who once served in the military.

While the Senate has not made a decision about sending an additional 20,000 troops, some are saying no matter how many troops we send, the war will not end any sooner, and they are beginning to find similarities between the wars in Iraq and Vietnam.

Edward Dias and his four children have 113 years of military service between them. Dias and his oldest son both retired from the Army, and another son and daughter are still actively serving; but Dias said he helped talk his third son out of the Army after 16 years--just four years short of retirement.

"This is a war that cannot be won militarily. It's got to be won diplomatically," Dias said. "We've got to get the Sunnis and the Shiites together and that'll stop it."

When Dias served in Vietnam, he collected the personal belongings of the troops who were killed or wounded. He said he could imagine the grief felt by the parents when they received the boxes he helped pack and he does not want to go through that with one of his own.

"If we were actually fighting an enemy, it would be one thing," he said. "I don't think they really know who they're over there fighting either."

Stopping the fighting with 20,000 more troops may not help. Both of Marvin Horne's sons-in-law are in Iraq right now. Horne spent seven-and-a-half years as a Prisoner of War after his aircraft was shot down over Hanoi; he said he doesn't want another Vietnam.

"The way the President is going is the way that Johnson did," he said. "Mr. Bush needs to back up and figure out what he's going to do other than send more troops to get our boys out."

Horne said the United States should not pull out all of the troops at once; it would not make sense after already risking and losing so much.

"Bring them back gradually a little at a time. Not everybody at one time, but a little at a time," he said. "That way the Iraqi people don't say we backed out on them."

Dias agrees. He said America should not abandon the Iraqis, but he cannot imagine another country trying to enforce a new government on the United States.

"People would head for the hills with their rifles and this war would last 20 to 30 years if they every tried to take us," Dias said.

"And now we're doing the same thing to somebody else."

Both men said they disagree with the idea of sending more troops, but no matter how many are sent they will continue to support each and every one.

Horne served in the Army from Nov of 1968 until July of 1970. He was discharged an E3.

The only proof I have are several Service Connected VA Medical ID cards that state POW in the lower right hand corner.  That's it.  And the 2 letters from the Red Cross that were last in the possession of the DAV via Bill Clinton.
The Army lost all my Medical Records and only sent 12 old copies of my Army Service Records.  They have no Medical Records so I wasn't there, get it?  They have nothing at all for my Navy Service.
