he graduated at age 17 and had to get his parents permission to enlist
in the Navy. Originally wanted to be a helicopter mechanic - was a
door gunner on a helicopter and served one tour. He did not say he
was a SEAL but that he was somehow recruited while in country to join
them on one or more missions. He said they had sought one or more
volunteers to go with them into Laos. His activities there were
classified.
He said his first wife divorced
him after he was shot down in Cambodia and listed as missing. He
claimed to have been held underground in a 4x4x4' box
until some of his comrades went against orders and returned to
rescue him.

Charles Camp is not now and never was a US Navy SEAL, and was NEVER
solicited by a SEAL unit to accompany them on combat operations. The
SEAL Teams never (NEVER) call for volunteers to accompany them on combat
operations! The members of a SEAL platoon train intensely together as a
small unit for many months (sometimes close to one full year) before
deploying anywhere in order that they might effectively work together as
a cohesive unit. Their reactions to situations and circumstances become
so integrated that their interactions and coordinated movements in
combat seem to take on the aspect of telepathy. No words are necessary
between the SEALs because they all know their jobs, their
responsibilities, and what other platoon members expect of them. To
introduce an untrained outsiderinto that closely knit and tightly
coordinated unit is a truly insane concept.
Born in 1947. Served from Jul 1 66
to June 21 1972. Navy AMS3. ONLY medal, National Defense. Court Martial
transcript "not in file." Attened "P", "A"

CANTU, "GUY" EDUARDO COMMAND SGT
MAJOR |
SCHERTZ, TX |
04/2010 |
His story is that he was on the ground in N.
Vietnam on a highly classified mission. He inferred that he was a spy
(his field was intelligence) at a time when we were not flying missions
over the North. He said his function was to assist in SAR efforts.
( if we weren't flying missions over
the North then, why did we need a SAR effort?)
My friend said Cantu shared his story of incarceration once on the golf
course as they talked of their combat experiences. He said they "found
him out" on one occasion...the reason he felt like he had failed his
mission, and that he was put in a bamboo pen for a period of 57 days.
An arc light hit very close (again he
said he was captured when we weren't flying over the North!), the
gomers ran for cover and only one guy was left guarding him. That guard
backed up against the pen and Guy reached through the bars and took him
out. He escaped and disappeared into the jungle.
Guy has not asked to be a member of repatriated POWs.
I asked him why not and he said
because he never surrendered.
Obviously he was alone and only he knows fact from fiction. The fact
that his actions were totally covert guarantees that there will be no
record of any incarceration and/or escapes. There are no records.
Could you please check your database and see if you have Command
Sergeant Major Guy Cantu, Ret Army E-9. He's not on the PMSEA.
Service Jan 67 - 31 Mar 71.
72 YRS OLD IN 2010
-----------------------------------------------------------------
While attending the Freedom flyers reunion
at Randolph AFB, I met a retired Army Sgt who claimed to have been a POW
in Laos for a short period. He attended our dining-in. I questioned
him but he was evasive. Special Forces, secret missions etc. It all
sounds familiar to you , I know. Anyway, I do not have any info on him
yet except his name and rank and that he lives in the San Antonio area.
He did say he retired in 1987 or 1988 from the Army.
================================
The man is Command Sergeant Major
Eduardo "Guy" Cantu and that he served 30 years in the USA
before retiring in 1989... He claims to have been held 59 days
but there is no record because he was not in uniform and was
doing Special Forces work.

Tell Cantu that Cordier is a gentleman...not suited
to fighting. However, I would be glad to meet Cantu in the gym for
an introduction. Tell him I am on the wall in Stillwater, OK in the
Wrestling Hall of Fame. Also, please relay my sentiments that Cantu
is a fraud, a "wannabe." Department of Defense has no
knowledge of his fraudulent claim. His service record likewise
would fail to show any substantiation. His medical record. No
After Action Report, no casualty reports, no missing personnel
reports, no morning muster reports, no official notification to Next
of Kin, no assignment of a CACO to assist the family, no Western
Union telegram, no nothin' to support a silly and unsubstantiated
claim. All 3,797 officially listed and known MIAs (to include all
POWs, all CIA and other secret operatives, civilians, secret
missions, etc.) all are listed at the following official site:
Mr. Cantu is not listed. He is a wannbe.
Mike McGrath
Historian, NAM-POWs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yep...he's a wannbe. Probably has a self
esteem problem, like most of the 2,000 plus wannabes we
see.
...it is impossible for a guy to be missing
from his unit for that length of
time without a lot of fuss. What about after
action reports, morning muster reports, casualty reports,
required reports to the family within 24 hours, Western
Union telegram, official notification to the family from the
nearest base commander and chaplain, news articles,
assignment of a CACO to assist the family, service record
entries, medical records entries, and on and on. Awards,
decorations, citations, etc. None produced so far. The guy
is a loser. I offered to meet him in the gym this morning
(as Ken's second).
He has the typical BS story that all 2,000
phony POWs think will pass
muster. It was a secret mission. It is
still classified. I killed a guard and made a miraculous
escape through hundreds of miles of enemy territory.
My CO never reported it. My service record was burned in
the St. Louis fire.
The Department of Defense has never heard of
the guy in this regard.
Their offical web site listing all 3,797 MIAs
(to include all POWs, CIA,
clandestine ops, civilians, etc.) is at the
following site;
If Mr. Cantu can prove the PMSEA wrong, he
will be the first of over 2,000 wannabes in the past 35
years to do so. Sort of long odds.
The guy's a loser. Dump him.
Richard Francis Capp ( ex-green bay Packer
and Steelers football player) claims that he was in a U2 plane
which was shot down and he ejected safely, but fell into enemy hands and
was chained to a post for 2 years. He said he received the Silver
Star personally from President Kennedy. Apparently, he was a
helicopter pilot that flew the one of the helicopters into Saigon for
the U.S. Embassy evacuation ( fall of Saigon). He also claimed it was
the North Vietnamese that help him captive for 2 years.
ACTUAL RECORDS |
Mary &
Doug,
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and
call this one a complete fraud. I
just happen to have a list of EVERY
person who has ever flown in the
U-2, and there is nobody with that
name on the list. Also, they didn't
award Silver Stars for being a POW
or taking torture before the Vietnam
War...generally, the highest award
given was the Legion of Merit (and
sometimes the Distinguished Service
Medal) pre-Vietnam (again, Olmstead
and McKone were awarded their Silver
Stars years later).
-----------------------------------
Mary,
I just finished going
through the Cold War DPMO
files in the last couple
weeks. With Erich‚s great
help, we found two men who
were shot down in 1960 on an
aircraft with a crew of six.
These two men (John McKone
and Freeman Olmstead) were
held as POWs by the Soviets
for six months and were
subsequently awarded Silver
Stars. This case, which
would have gone pretty much
unknown except for Erich‚s
great work, inclines me to
think there are possibly
others. But the thing that
makes me doubt this case is:
1) Both these men are listed
by DPMO,
2) Both these men did NOT
receive their Silver Stars
until decades later (as
opposed to this guy who
claims it was presented by
JFK).
Perhaps Erich can shed some
light on this.
Sincerely,
Doug
Frank Cassavetes is
not only an actor and personal trainer to some of Hollywood's
marine veteran of 27 years, with 29 months in combat in Viet Nam.
Captured, he became a prisoner of war for five years, the last three at
the infamous Hanoi Hilton prisoner of war camp. For the last ten years
of his military career, Frank was a drill instructor at the Marine
training camp at Paris Island.
Most
will recognize Frank as the sniper in the movie "John Q" with
Denzel Washington, who Frank also worked with as a personal trainer. At
the time of this writing, Frank was getting ready for roles in movies
04/2008 |
Well
first thing, I guess is my name. My name is Boyd Casteel. I am 54
years old and I am married to a wonderful wife, Lisa. We are big
animal lovers so we have quite a few pets. We live
in Northeast Tennessee, in
Johnson City
,
TN.
I am a retired police officer. Law Enforcement has been a part of my
life since I was 18 years old. I am an Air Force veteren, learning my
police duties there and then going in to civilian law enforcement, once
I left the Air Force.
I am a former POW. My unit was ambushed in
Viet Nam
, myself and one other person were the only two survivors that day. We
were quickly taken to a POW camp, interrogated and tortured, then placed
in 4' by 4' bamboo cages the were outside the commanding officer offices
and left there for the duration of my stay.According to the Geneva
Convention, POS's are allowed Red Cross packages and medical
attention......my buddy and I were not. We were fed a small amount of
stale bread and very very small pieces of some kind of meat, mostly fat
along with some water,once a day.We were tortured relentlessly, every
day. In those days, all we were only allowed to say if captured, was
name, rank, and serial number. Believe me friends, after a few days of
beatings, you can't give them any info....you really don't even know
your own name anymore. I actually prayed for death but it never came.
I was kept confined for 9 months, when the camp
was taken by several Marine outfits. The Red Cross came in and tended to
all of the wounded and all the GI's that were considered critical care.
I was transported to a hospital ship to start my
rehabilitation to where I could stand and walk again, then after a few
months I was sent back to the States (
Anchorage
,
AK
) to complete my service.
As horrible as that all sounds, it is just now, that I am able to really
start talking about. It has stayed with me most all of my adult life.
Some of it never goes away.
==================================
Thank
you for the link to the POW/MIA website. Over the years, I have
researched through many archives, wrote tons of letters, even made phone
calls only to find out that there are many vets who have wrong info or
info that was never updated in their military files. Some have spent a
lot of their civilian career and most of their savings trying to correct
their files and write history the way it was meant to be written,
especially for their families.
Most folks do not understand what one piece of a servicemans file,
misplaced, can do. To some it can be completely devastating. It can mean
the difference between medical help, and just getting by in the
remaining years of ones llife.
Please don't think me a hero, for I am NOT. I was just a young kid who
had some unforunate events take place in his life. The real hero's,
well, sadly some of them are still there. Gratefully, some are in
Arlington
, but one thing is for sure....they are all with the Great Commander,
Our Lord and Savior. Most, maybe not all are listed on The Wall in
Washington
. But you know probably as well as I do, that to lose 58,000 of our
countries greatest heros's was not and never will acceptable.
Please forgive my "soapbox" mentality. Sometimes a nerve gets
struck, and I just can't help myself. Most of the country didn't want to
hear about
Viet Nam
then, and a lot still don't want to hear about it, now. But, I for one
will never stop talking about the atrocities that happen to both sides,
ours and theirs.
I don't usually speak about the war. It's over and I try to put the
heartache and misery behind me, but some of the guys we fly with wanted
to know about me, so I let my guard down and opened up a little bit. Not
for any type of adulation or pats on the back, but maybe to just let all
know that some of us are still out here, and what it was like back in
the 60's and 70's.
Thank you for your letter, and most of all thank you, Ken, for YOUR
service. It is young men and women like you that still make this the
best country in the world. As bad as it was, I would still reenlist
today and do it all over again, if youth and time were on my side.
God bless you and all like you who protect us each day, and most of all,
God bless
America
.
I remain,
your friend,
Steve. There's more to the story....
Today there were a whole bunch of
replies to my quarry. It seems that this guy was held in serious
contempt by junior members of the battalion, several of whom went on
to get commissioned and at least one of whom is still on active duty.
According to these guys, he was the consummate self promoter,
egomaniac and all around asshole. This is not just from some private
who thought the guy was a hardass - quite the contrary. All the guys
that replied either retired from active duty or at least reached NCO
rank before ETS'ing. It says something when not a single guy had
anything positive to say.
Clayton evidently told the POW
story complete with torture, etc. to each RIP class he taught. For a
time he was assigned to the 1/75 Ranger Indoc Program at Hunter before
the Regt was activated and that function consolidated at Ft. Benning.
There's a good chance this POW
stuff is all hot air on his part - simply based on the rabid responses
I got.
Hope this helps. It's simply more
of the total picture of this guy. Bob
Cayton is currently working in Iraq as a security
contractor on a DoS contract with a company by the name
of Triple Canopy. He has obviously continued his
deceptive and self promoting behavior by failing to
declare his past lies. He currently holds a DoS Secret
failed to disclose that he falsified his military
records which led to a CID investigation. I'm sure this
would have led to a denial of his clearance. Why DoS
investigators failed to do a simple Google search on
this guy is beyond me.
CHARBONNET, FELDER JOSEPH |
New Orleans |
He is an actor that claims he was a pirate killer with
Team 6 and a SEAL from 90-96. He tells film people here this so he can
get jobs on film sets as a consultant to make sure they do special op
scenes correctly. Tried over and over to get his class number during
BUDS and he avoided the question.
Here's a link to his Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001650342106
I called this Felder Charbonnet guy and asked if he was a
Navy SEAL, he replied "Yes." Noteworthy is that he claims BUD/S Class
287, SEAL Team SIX, and a SEAL from 90-96. The noteworthy part is that
BUD/S Class 287 began Hell Week two days ago on March 6th, 2011...
Felder is a crappy little actor dude in New Orleans (like New Orleans
hasn't had enough problems already) who uses his SEAL claims to get
acting jobs and as a consultant for Special Ops films and shows.
He removed one resume post where he stated he was a Navy Boatswain Mate
"BM" and qualified as Helm and Lee Helmsman...
Its no wonder there are so many crappy movies about the Military with
guys like this Clown giving advice on Special Operations...
Sir,
I greatly appreciate your interest
in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams, and your search for
the TRUTH. Before answering your questions I must make clear that I am a
private individual, not affiliated with the US Dept. of Defense or any
other government organization. My efforts to expose SEAL imposters are
performed as a service to the public, and in honor of my fallen SEAL
Teammates… men who truly earned the right to the title “US NAVY SEAL”
but who are no longer able to stand forward in defense of their honor,
their reputations, and their TEAMs.
If the name you provided is spelled
correctly, I do NOT find a listing in the SEAL Database (SEAL
Teams and predecessor units from 1943 to the Present Day) for anyone
named FELDER CHARBONNET. I have also examined possible alternate
spellings, and names with similar pronunciations without finding any
that appear to be applicable.
Unless he has undertaken the
unlikely action of a legal name change (an action for which there would
be evidence in the form of court documentation) since his claimed
participation in SEAL training, and based upon the information you have
provided, I can state conclusively that FELDER CHARBONNET has NEVER
COMPLETED SEAL training, and he is not now, nor was he ever a Navy SEAL,
a Navy UDT “Frogman”, a member of any Naval Combat Demolition Unit (NCDU),
or a member of the Naval Amphibious Scouts & Raiders (S&R).
Many SEAL imposters when confronted
with the information I have provided will resort to claiming that their
records are sealed, burned or their SEAL Operations were Classified and
that there are no official records of them.
Before any classified operations may
be undertaken as a SEAL Operator, a man must first successfully complete
the Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) Training program and then
the follow-on secondary training program. The names of all those who
successfully graduate from that training program sequence are compiled
in the SEAL database. Later participation in classified operations has
"no impact" on whether or not a person is listed as a graduate of the
training program.
There are records of every man who
has qualified for the title of “SEAL”; there have been and will continue
to be secret missions, but there are NO secret SEALs.
Once again I must stress that
although I am a US Navy veteran, and a former SEAL, I am a civilian
performing in an entirely unofficial role. I strongly recommend that you
obtain a formal/official US NAVY statement regarding Mr. FELDER
CHARBONNET claimed SEAL credentials. To do so you may contact the
FOIA COORDINATOR at the NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE COMMAND in San Diego,
California, and submit a formal FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT inquiry in
writing addressed to:
Commander
Naval Special Warfare Command
FOIA Coordinator
2000 Trident Way
San Diego, CA 92155
Thank you again for your concern in
this matter, and for your assistance in upholding the honor of the US
Navy SEAL Teams. If I can be of any further assistance to you in this
matter, please contact me at your convenience.
Respectfully, Don
Shipley BUD/S 131, SEAL Team ONE, SEAL Team TWO.
Mr. Schaller,
I read with interest your 1 November 2007
story that was published in THE GAZETTE (Gazette.com), Colorado
Springs, CO "Grandfather helps Air Force linebacker Charles
cope".
In your story, you stated that Luis
Charles, the grandfather of Nick Charles served several tours in
Vietnam and that during one of these tours, he was captured by enemy
forces.
Are you saying Norris Charles and Luis
Charles are one and the same?
If the story is not true, will you be
publishing a retract?
Thank you for your assistance.
THE GAZETTE
...Every time doubts crept into Charles’
head, so would thoughts of his grandfather. Luis Charles, now 70,
served in the Army for 23 years, including several tours in Vietnam.
During one of those tours, he was captured by enemy forces.
....In the Army he served with the 82nd and
101st Airborne Divisions and with a Special Forces unit when he was in
Vietnam. His capture is something he does not talk about much....
|
Mr. Schaller....Yes, you can bet it is not true.
Every man captured (even if for only an hour or so) is listed.
Every unit commander was required to write After Action Reports.
If a man is missing from a unit, even for a short time, it is a
serious matter. Reporting a man missing after an action sets
in motion a whole list of things, including
notifying the man's family, notifying the service chain of command,
assigning a CACO for the family, a Western Union Telegram to the
family, service records entries, etc. Talk to Mr. Greer at
DPMO. He can verify what I am telling you.
Sincerely,
Mike McGrath
