Claims
he graduated at age 17 and had to get his parents permission to enlist
in the Navy. Originally wanted to be a helicopter mechanic - was a
door gunner on a helicopter and served one tour. He did not say he
was a SEAL but that he was somehow recruited while in country to join
them on one or more missions. He said they had sought one or more
volunteers to go with them into Laos. His activities there were
classified.
He said his first wife divorced
him after he was shot down in Cambodia and listed as missing. He
claimed to have been held underground in a 4x4x4' box
until some of his comrades went against orders and returned to
rescue him.

Charles Camp is not now and never was a US Navy SEAL, and was NEVER
solicited by a SEAL unit to accompany them on combat operations. The
SEAL Teams never (NEVER) call for volunteers to accompany them on combat
operations! The members of a SEAL platoon train intensely together as a
small unit for many months (sometimes close to one full year) before
deploying anywhere in order that they might effectively work together as
a cohesive unit. Their reactions to situations and circumstances become
so integrated that their interactions and coordinated movements in
combat seem to take on the aspect of telepathy. No words are necessary
between the SEALs because they all know their jobs, their
responsibilities, and what other platoon members expect of them. To
introduce an untrained outsiderinto that closely knit and tightly
coordinated unit is a truly insane concept.
Born in 1947. Served from Jul 1 66
to June 21 1972. Navy AMS3. ONLY medal, National Defense. Court Martial
transcript "not in file." Attened "P", "A"

days of torture, having no body hair, burned feet, front teeth cut
completely out from a knife. As they took him outside of the
camp blindfolded and on his knees, they put a gun to his head and
pulled the trigger, which misfired and killed the shooter allowing him
to escape. He did three tours and was
severely wounded, spending time on the ship REPOSE and then over a
year at Walter Reed Hospital. He said he had the DSC awarded to
him November 3, 1973 and Nixon pinned it on his uniform on the White
House lawn the middle of December 1973. He belonged to Company
B. His missions were always secretive. He also was
awarded the bronze star (which he refused), two silver stars, five
purple hearts, Viet Nam service medal .....

Frank Cassavetes is
not only an actor and personal trainer to some of Hollywood's
superstars, but he is also a hero. A
marine veteran of 27 years, with 29 months in combat in Viet Nam.
Captured, he became a prisoner of war for five years, the last three at
the infamous Hanoi Hilton prisoner of war camp. For the last ten years
of his military career, Frank was a drill instructor at the Marine
training camp at Paris Island.
Most
will recognize Frank as the sniper in the movie "John Q" with
Denzel Washington, who Frank also worked with as a personal trainer. At
the time of this writing, Frank was getting ready for roles in movies
with Michael Caine, Robert Duval, and his brother, the well known
producer Nick Cassavetes.

Well
first thing, I guess is my name. My name is Boyd Casteel. I am 54
years old and I am married to a wonderful wife, Lisa. We are big
animal lovers so we have quite a few pets. We live
in Northeast Tennessee, in
Johnson City
,
TN.
I am a retired police officer. Law Enforcement has been a part of my
life since I was 18 years old. I am an Air Force veteren, learning my
police duties there and then going in to civilian law enforcement, once
I left the Air Force.
I am a former POW. My unit was ambushed in
Viet Nam
, myself and one other person were the only two survivors that day. We
were quickly taken to a POW camp, interrogated and tortured, then placed
in 4' by 4' bamboo cages the were outside the commanding officer offices
and left there for the duration of my stay.According to the Geneva
Convention, POS's are allowed Red Cross packages and medical
attention......my buddy and I were not. We were fed a small amount of
stale bread and very very small pieces of some kind of meat, mostly fat
along with some water, once a day.We were tortured relentlessly, every
day. In those days, all we were only allowed to say if captured, was
name, rank, and serial number. Believe me friends, after a few days of
beatings, you can't give them any info....you really don't even know
your own name anymore. I actually prayed for death but it never came.
I was kept confined for 9 months, when the camp
was taken by several Marine outfits. The Red Cross came in and tended to
all of the wounded and all the GI's that were considered critical care.
I was transported to a hospital ship to start my
rehabilitation to where I could stand and walk again, then after a few
months I was sent back to the States (
Anchorage
,
AK
) to complete my service.
As horrible as that all sounds, it is just now, that I am able to really
start talking about. It has stayed with me most all of my adult life.
Some of it never goes away.
==================================
Thank
you for the link to the POW/MIA website. Over the years, I have
researched through many archives, wrote tons of letters, even made phone
calls only to find out that there are many vets who have wrong info or
info that was never updated in their military files. Some have spent a
lot of their civilian career and most of their savings trying to correct
their files and write history the way it was meant to be written,
especially for their families.
Most folks do not understand what one piece of a servicemans file,
misplaced, can do. To some it can be completely devastating. It can mean
the difference between medical help, and just getting by in the
remaining years of ones llife.
Please don't think me a hero, for I am NOT. I was just a young kid who
had some unforunate events take place in his life. The real hero's,
well, sadly some of them are still there. Gratefully, some are in
Arlington
, but one thing is for sure....they are all with the Great Commander,
Our Lord and Savior. Most, maybe not all are listed on The Wall in
Washington
. But you know probably as well as I do, that to lose 58,000 of our
countries greatest heros's was not and never will acceptable.
Please forgive my "soapbox" mentality. Sometimes a nerve gets
struck, and I just can't help myself. Most of the country didn't want to
hear about
Viet Nam
then, and a lot still don't want to hear about it, now. But, I for one
will never stop talking about the atrocities that happen to both sides,
ours and theirs.
I don't usually speak about the war. It's over and I try to put the
heartache and misery behind me, but some of the guys we fly with wanted
to know about me, so I let my guard down and opened up a little bit. Not
for any type of adulation or pats on the back, but maybe to just let all
know that some of us are still out here, and what it was like back in
the 60's and 70's.
Thank you for your letter, and most of all thank you, Ken, for YOUR
service. It is young men and women like you that still make this the
best country in the world. As bad as it was, I would still reenlist
today and do it all over again, if youth and time were on my side.
God bless you and all like you who protect us each day, and most of all,
God bless
America
.
I remain,
your friend,

Steve. There's more to the story....
Today there were a whole bunch of
replies to my quarry. It seems that this guy was held in serious
contempt by junior members of the battalion, several of whom went on
to get commissioned and at least one of whom is still on active duty.
According to these guys, he was the consummate self promoter,
egomaniac and all around asshole. This is not just from some private
who thought the guy was a hardass - quite the contrary. All the guys
that replied either retired from active duty or at least reached NCO
rank before ETS'ing. It says something when not a single guy had
anything positive to say.
Clayton evidently told the POW
story complete with torture, etc. to each RIP class he taught. For a
time he was assigned to the 1/75 Ranger Indoc Program at Hunter before
the Regt was activated and that function consolidated at Ft. Benning.
There's a good chance this POW
stuff is all hot air on his part - simply based on the rabid responses
I got.
Hope this helps. It's simply more
of the total picture of this guy. Bob

Vietnam War vet’s injuries recognized
Silver Rose given for Agent Orange illness
MARY LANE GALLAGHER
A Blaine resident and Vietnam War veteran
received a medal at a Blaine High School ceremony Thursday
commemorating his war service and injuries related to exposure
to Agent Orange.
Agent Orange, a toxic defoliant, has been
linked to several types of cancer and other illnesses, but
those illnesses don’t make soldiers eligible for a Purple
Heart. The Order of the Silver Rose is provided by a
nongovernmental organization that hopes to honor veterans and
raise awareness about Agent Orange exposure.
David Chapman
Jr., Washington state president of Combat Veterans
International, said he wanted to let other vets know that the
Silver Rose medal was available.
He also hopes the Purple Heart will someday
be awarded to veterans who develop illnesses related to their
Agent Orange exposure.
“My wound is no different from a lot of
guys who got shot, or who took shrapnel,” Chapman
said.
For more information about the Order of the
Silver Rose, go to www.silverrose.info.
=============================
Other than his claiming to be a POW he harasses
different organizations to re- award him his "silver
rose" medal for Agent Orange exposure related illness. He
claims he was captured in Vietnam, thrown into some sort
of pit but eventually escaped - after having to kill his
severely wounded comrade. Is seen riding his motor cycle often and you can find
him anywhere a microphone is visible.

It was just brought to my attention that my name is on your

was AWOL.
On 8th of August, 1968 the following entry was placed into his

......that since Mr Chapman was photographed with the
Purple Heart Ribbon which he did not earn he deserves the
appropriate attention of the posting of those photos. Also he was
never MIA or POW as he has stated many times but actually AWOL DFR'D.

Hurricane Hero
Dexter Christenberry isn't giving money, clothes or
water to Hurricane Katrina victims. He's driving entire homes to them:
200 campers with air conditioning, bathrooms and more.
When the Piney Flats businessman saw the devastation
caused by the Hurricane on television, he wanted to give victims a place
to call home. This past weekend, he drove a camper to complete strangers
in Mississippi. Now that he's seen their neighborhood, he says he won't
stop driving more down.
"I told the people next door that had children,
I'll go back, I'll get you a camper and I'll bring you a camper,
Christenberry told News Channel 11 Tuesday.
The former prisoner of war was
changed forever by what he saw along the coast this weekend.
"I noticed, as we did air raids in Vietnam and we
would get through with those villages, what was left and the people that
were left. Those Vietnamese people were sitting around, twisting their
hands, trying to figure out how they were going to put their lives back
together, " he said. "{Mississippi} gave me a flashback of
Vietnam. These people don't have anywhere to go, a lot of them don't
have any family to go to."...
ACTUAL
Enlisted in the Navy 26OCT62 and was
released 19JUN64. He never rose above the grade of Airman
Apprentice. He was on the USS Ticonderoga from 16MAY63
thru 13DEC63, and then he was on the USS Saratoga until 20APR64. The
last entry shows him stationed at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Pa on 19JUN64 when
they discharged him.
Number 6 wife is divorcing him as of 01/2007.
"Told stories of his valor and glory in Vietnam
