2nd report 04/2002 - and on and on and on
2011 - Mr. Braddock is still up to his tricks ......asked
just this past month during a trip .......whether Mr. Braddock was
telling the truth about being a POW. ......but that Mr. Braddock was not
telling the truth. It appears that during trips, during concealed
weapons classes and while in contact with other military and police that
Jim is sticking to his story of being a POW, green Beret and being
nominated for a congressional medal of honor. This is extremely sad and
something needs to be done.

Claims USMC POW, 2 months Laos. He and
"several others" escaped, roaming for 20 days before finding
friendly forces.
STILL claims the same story PLUS he also claimed
to have the Silver Star and Bronze Star. .... Bradley admits that the
USMC does not recognize that he was a POW. Bradley's card
identifies him as the Commandant of the "Gen Raymond Davis
Detachment" of the Marine Corps League of Gaston, Lincoln Counties,
North Carolina.
----------------------
-
Larry
claims to have been honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps.
This is true.
-
Larry
claims to have served in
Vietnam
. This is true.
-
Larry
claims to have achieved the rank of Master Sgt (E8). According to
his record his highest rank was Sgt (E5)
-
Larry
claims to have served twenty years. According to his record he
served four years.
-
Larry
claims to have been wounded four times. According to his record, he
was wounded once and, therefore, rates one Purple Heart.
-
Larry
claims to have served with Force Recon. There is no record of this.
-
Larry
claims that while serving with Force Recon he went on joint missions
with Army Special Forces. There is no record of this.
-
Larry
claims to have been awarded a Bronze Star. There is no record of
this.
-
Larry
claims to have been awarded a Silver Star (presented by President
Johnson personally). There is no record of this.
-
Larry
claims to have briefly been captured and escaped by traveling
through the jungle for 20 days. There is no record of this.
-
Due
to the previous claim, Larry claims the right to a Prisoner of War
Medal. There is no record of this.
-
Larry
has all these medals framed and hanging on a wall in his home.
This
case is unusual in that Larry Bradley has a military record that he can
be proud of and has no need to embellish. Unfortunately, he went far
beyond embellishment and to this day often wears rank insignia and
displays awards, to which he is not entitled. Larry was instrumental in
starting Marine Corps League detachment 1162 and was the first elected
Commandant of the detachment.
However,
after being confronted with the results of the investigation, he chose
to resign rather than face disciplinary action, by the Marine Corps
League. Therefore, Larry Bradley is no longer a member of Marine Corps
League Detachment 1162.

The Daily Inter Lake

Dear Mr. Miele
(Managing Editor, DailyInterLake News):
I noticed the DailyInterLake obituary dated 17 December 2005 for William
H. "Wild Bill" Brown, 62.
In the obituary it states that Mr. Brown was a "POW for 15
months." You might want to consider a retraction or
correction to this statement. Mr. Brown
was never with any one of us, the real 661 surviving POWs of
the Vietnam War. Nor is he known by Department of Defense in
this regard. I'm afraid that someone has
pulled a cruel hoax on Mr. Brown's family if
they are the ones who provided your news service with the false
information. There is no documentation supporting Mr.
Brown's claims. It is an insult to all
servicemen who honorably served to read false
claims of Mr. Brown having been a prisoner of war, when he wasn't one..
You may call up the official list of all 3,792 missing and/or POWs
of the Vietnam War at: http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/pmsea/files.htm
Please notice that Mr. Brown is not listed. Next, I suggest
you call Mr. Larry Greer, Public Affairs Officer for the Department
of Defense who is
authorized to speak to you about these affairs.
Mr. Greer can be reached during Washington, DC working hours at:
703-699-1169.
Mr. Greer is info copied on this message. He will be expecting
your call. If you wish to use this communication as a Letter
to the Editor, you are welcome to do so. My home is in

[clipped] ...OK - I'm really mad
now and I jump up and go over to their table.
(In retrospect - Over the entrance to the
Restaurantis a huge
American Flag. On each table is an American
Flag and a small hand painted
sign "United We Stand")
I excuse myself and ask the Professor if I can
ask him a question. He
says yes. I said that he appears to be of age
to have served in Viet Nam,
and asked him if he had served.
His answer was, "NO - I defended this
Campus and told the truth
to the students.
I then asked if he remembered what he was doing
on February 16,
1969.
When he answered, "Of course not - that
was too long ago," I
responded, "Really, I remember what I was
doing. That was the second day of
my capture and I had been standing in a bamboo
cage for 24 hours
with water up to my chest."
I then said "Sir, your comments about how
POW's in Nam were treated are a
lie and I personally say to you, you are a
******* liar, as you never were
there. I was a POW and they did not treat our
POWs humanly. The only other
person I have ever heard make the statements
like you have is Jane Fonda. Is
she telling the truth and not me?"
He stood up and after about 10 seconds said,
"Jane is a great patriot and I
cannot visualize her lying."
With that, I reached over and grabbed the small
American Flag and
United We Stand sign and said, "I'm taking
this back to my table where
it can be appreciated".
No one said a word to me as I started to walk
back....

Claims to have been awarded the Navy Cross, Claims to have been a POW.
His story always was different. He stated after he escaped with a LT from
the Army, he stayed in-country, yet every other escaped POW was
whisked immediately out of country.
Re his medals and ribbons, (he had the ribbons out of order), he
stated the Navy wears them in a different order, yet the order of
precedent is clear from the Dept. of Defense.

predawn darkness of June 6, 1944, Everton Bushnell jumped into
Sainte-Mere-Eglise, France, with the two-year-old 82nd Airborne

NOT A POW
Dear Sir: In reference to the below published
obituary, no man named
Ralph E. Butler was ever with any one of us, the real
661 surviving POWs
from the Vietnam War, nor is he know by the
Department of Defense in this
regard. The obit reflects the dreams of a wannabe.

In re: POW status:
Prisoner of War category: Vietnam
Theater participated in: Southeast
Asia
Approximate date of capture: April 1969
Captured in a group – flight crew of six
people
Time in captivity:
Approximately 6-weeks, 2-days
We had
just made landing in C-123K (cargo plane) at US operated army base “Tam
La Chan” near Anke Vietnam, close to Benja AB Saigon, Vietnam.
We were hauling ammunition and food items.
Engines on A/C still running. Flight crew was in progress of
pushing ammo out of cargo door on wooden pallets when A/C was hit while
still on the runway, by Viet Cong launching mortar rounds disabling A/C.
Captors
(Viet Cong) were rapidly approaching A/C as the whole aircrew was
attempting to tear up all A/C technical manuals and mission orders and
maps. Viet Cong tied us up
using ropes, blindfolded all of us and marched us up into a large wagon
pulled by horses. We were
taken to a wooded area on a long bumpy dirt road, placed in wooden cages
with wooden bars. Blindfolds
were removed, food and water then thrown to the floor where slept on
straw/hay on the ground in closed cages. I was interrogated every day almost all day, worked in rice
fields and then in tent as an interpreter (language).
Escaped from Viet Cong prison camp with aid of “Mama Sans”,
their husbands and children cutting barbed wire.
We floated and swam on backs, breathing through bamboo poles in
muddy water ditch, then crawled and walked through wooded area and
swamps to friendly U.S. outpost camp.
Three fellow air crewmen were shot by Viet Cong in the muddy
water while trying to escape. Upon
arriving to U.S. forces, was taken to hospital.
