Lance Corporal Paul Douglas Tice, who joined the U.S. Marine Corps from New York, was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. On September 25, 1966, during Operation Prairie, he participated in a combat mission in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. During the mission, LCpl Tice was hit by enemy mortar fire. He was killed, and enemy fire prevented the recovery of his remains. Today, Lance Corporal Tice is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
