Return to Service Member Profiles

Corporal Gary Lee Rehn, who joined the U.S. Marine Corps from Minnesota, was a member of Company D, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. On November 9, 1967, CPL Rehn and his patrol came under hostile fire in southern Thua Thien-Hue Province, South Vietnam, in the vicinity of Grid Coordinates ZC 000 900. Other members of the patrol observed CPL Rehn fatally wounded with a gunshot wound to his body. Enemy presence in the area prevented immediate searches for Cpl Rehn’s remains, and they were not recovered following the war.
