REMARKS: 730218 RELEASED BY DRV RESIDED VA/RET CAPT/WIFE BARB 05/12/98 I have been informed of the passing of Jim Pirie. Jim recently met with several of his old squadronmates from VA-93 in Pensacola, FL. Jim met up with RAdm Jim Seely, "Jude" Lahr, R.T. Davis, Pete Dodge, Jack Waeltz, Mac Alsop and Tom Wondergem. They had a great get together, a little golf, a seminar and lots of memories shared. The event broke up around 11:00 Saturday morning (9 May). Jim Pirie drove Lahr and Dodge to the New Orleans Airport and dropped them off around 4:00 PM. That night at around 10:00 PM, Jim died in his sleep from a heart attack. Jim is survived by his wife Barbara. (Children & others unknown). Jim was a LCdr flying his 225th mission in an A4E when shot down 6-22-67. He was released 2-18-73. No further information is known. God speed in your flight West, Jim. NAM POWs According to Jim Pirie's oldest son, Graham, Jims' remains were cremated. There was a memorial service in Marrero, LA, where he and Barbara lived. Then his remains will be taken to Bessemer, AL, where Jim was from.
