REMARKS: 730212 RELEASED BY DRV Kramer and his pilot, Julius Jayroe were shot down by a surface-to-air missile 30 miles NNE of Hanoi on the afternoon of 19 January 1967 while escorting photo recon aircraft. Jayroe was fortunate not to have received injuries during and after ejection from the aircraft and enjoyed relatively good health during his six years of captivity. Kramer was released a month earlier than Jayroe, indicating illness or injuries. Galand Kramer retired from the United States Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. He and his wife Sharon reside in California.
