On October 25, 1966, a Royal Laotian C-47 Skytrain (tail number 0398) was carrying two U.S. airmen and several Laotian passengers when it crashed on a mountain in the vicinity of (GC) WB 680 951. All persons onboard were killed in the incident. The remains of one of the American passengers were recovered from the crash site and identified. Laotian officials buried the other American passenger at an unknown location, along with the remains of several Laotians from the aboard the aircraft.
Staff Sergeant Robert Bailey Green, who joined the U.S. Air Force from Texas, was a member of the 432nd Armaments and Electronics Squadron. He was the American passenger who has not been recovered. Today, Staff Sergeant Green is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
