REMARKS: 08/15/75 LEFT SAIGON
Father Berard is a Roman Catholic priest and a member of the Society of
Jesus (Jesuits). When the Communists took over South Vietnam Father was
trapped and couldn't get out. He was hidden by French Catholic missionaries
and spirited out of the country to safety. After leaving Vietnam, he served
the Vietnamese Catholic community in the Houston, Texas area until he was
re-assigned to St. Paul's Church, Reading, Pennsylvania about 1990, where he
continued to serve the Viet Catholic community. For health reasons Father
retired last year and the last I heard he was residing at a Jesuit
retirement home in Weston, MA.
